Well what can i say. The Evo III 16G turbo is awesome. I have experienced absolutely no boost creep and at 12 PSI, the turbo still pulls like a raped ape. I am running a 3" Turboback Exhaust, Turbo XS H-34 Racing Bypass valve, Evo III 16G Turbo unported, with stock 31mm wastegate. My mods are in my profile if you want to check them out. I have the boost set at 12 PSI, and i took the car for a test drive today, and the baby pulled 12 psi in every gear all the way to redline. Some of you may not believe this but its true. I did a boost leak test today (silly me, my car doesnt even feel like it has a boost leak..yet i still did it to be sure) and there were absolutely no leaks. The turbo is spooling quickly and it is doing its job. I would recommend anyone this turbo who wants a quick spooling turbo thats on a budget. I payed $715 for the Turbo including the 2G Install kit from Extreme PSI. So far so good, now im awaiting on FMIC, 660cc injectors and the 255 LPH Fuel pump. Thought id share my experience with this turbo. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

just out of curiousity when does ur turbo start spooling and is that on a ported mani/o2. I have a big 16g and it starts at 3k and fully spooled around 3.4k

2.6k-2.9k rpm it starts spooling. My Manifold is not ported and neither is my 02 housing.

Oldman, its a EVO III 16G.

Go to the dyno! I wanna see some numbers!

I am awaiting on the injectors and fuel pump. Regardless of when i have time to install the FMIC, im still gonna have it dyno tuned at Mach V without the fmic. I think the super sidemount should be good enough for now. My buddy Travis made 320 FWHP with similar mods (on the Supersidemount) that i have when he was on the Evo III 16G. I know achieving 300 WHP will take some good tuning but i know it can be done. My goal is to make atleast 350 WHP with this turbo and a 1/4 time of 12.99 or better. If anyone has any suggestions on how i can reach my 350 WHP Goals, i would really appreciate it.

at what psi was ur friend making that 320whp

Here is his dynosheet when he was on the Evo III 16G. Now he is running a 60 trim, fmic, cams. Dyno

Not trying to steal your thread, but I have also ran my evo iii for a week now. Mine is unported, no flapper upgrade; 2g ex mani, evo iii o2, 2.5" exhaust, supra sidemount and 190 walbro. I reach full boost, 18lbs, at 2900 rpms, it's great!

hey i am getting the same thing in a bit. workin on the supporting mods first. 97clipsedsm, why did u decide to not get it ported? u gonna do it yourself? or just didnt have the funds? if anyone is interested, here is the link

Yeah i am seeing full boost about 2900-3000 RPM's.

DSMUnknown, there were a couple reasons why i didnt get it ported or the 34 mm flapper. Basically i didnt really care for it but i think the bigger reason was i didnt have complete funds because my dsm was my daily driver and my t25 took a sh!t on me and it was so bad that it would create huge amounts of smoke. It also barely boosted. It would be nice to port it myself sometime but i think so far im happy with what i got. One step at a time..when I have enough saved up, im going to be making a few more purchases. :thumb:

the evo3 16g turbo is amazing. this was the turbo that i sported on my 93 talon tsi. the turbo was running 21lbs on my setup and it pulled straight up like a bat out of hell. im sellin my wrx right now and gettin back into a dsm, the evo 16g turbo will definately be the way i go again. its the most practical for an everyday speed demon

Day by day im more and more happy with this turbo. I am seriously starting to think big power with this turbo. I wont be the one to give up just because anything over 350 WHP horsepower on pump gas will get difficult. I will go cams, and whatever is necessary to get the full potential of this turbo. I will definitely upgrade one day, but this is the turbo i want to stay with for a long long time. I love the spool up and i love what this turbo is capable of. Like i said before, my goal for now is 350 WHP and a 1/4 time of 12.99 or better. I know a 12.99 or better can be done on FWD with evo III 16G, and I will eventually.

I'm glad you guys like it. I sure like mine!

I ran 118.78mph in the 1/4 on Saturday. Now I'm wondering how I can get the car to run 120! :)

What was your 1/4 time and 60ft time? assuming your awd? 1G or 2G?

thanks

Hey man, i'm definitely going to get the EVO III turbo. How is it with no fmic or bigger injectors? more power still? I have an injen intake pipe, and i was wondering if that would fit the turbo or if i'd have to get a bigger pipe? how hard was the install too?

12.006 @ 118.78mph 1.77 60-ft, I believe. Yes my car is a 97 GSX. Daily driver. 3315lbs with me in the driver's seat. :)

I wish the traction was better, but they just weren't prepping the track all that well. I had to be really careful not to wheelhop badly.

NICE to know I am about to put the Evo III with an external wastegate. I just need time and planification.

BTW don't forget to order a FPR you will need it with that Fuel pump. :thumb:
It will run Smooth!!!

What i dont understand is why you payed $700 sum odd dollars for it, unported and with the 31mm waste gate, when you could of payed very close to the same price and got it ported inlet and outlet and a 34mm flapper at slowboyracing.com?

Unported = better. :) My 16G is unported.

He paid $700 for the turbo and the install kit. You won't get a 2G install kit and have the turbo ported with a larger flapper for $700.

To get this 2900 RPM spool...what gear are you guys using? I have the E316g and I don't get full boost until around 3.4k. I suppose I could have a leak, or my full 2.5" piping is hurting me. But I use 3rd as a spooling baseline, just wondering if you guys were using a higher gear.

All in all, a great turbo, glad to hear you're having a good experiene with it.
BTW, mine didn't creep right away, but started to later on.

Yeah, I can't stand it when someone mentions that they get "full boost" by XXXXRPM. What is full boost? 30psi? 20psi? 15psi? And what gear are you in when you get "full boost" by this RPM? It matters!

In 3rd gear, I get 15psi by 3100RPM with my Evo III 16G. I have datalogged this.
