Alright guys, you may have seen my numerous threads about whether or not I should build my 2gb GS-T, 2ga TSi AWD, or my '91 TSi AWD shell; but it has come down to this.

The 2gb is a cool car, but I do not want to go about the hassle of doing an AWD swap; as easy as it may be. It will simply cost me too much, and to be quite honest, my dad (the owner of the car), probably will not allow me to do so.

The 1ga is a freaking shell! I mean, I have almost everything except an engine harness, ECU, intake & exhaust manifold and turbo. It needs body work though; rust holes filled, dents fixed...and just a lot of attention. A paintjob is not cheap either! Even though my dad owns a body shop. Plus the engine..LOL We will not get into it, LOL.

Now the 2ga; my dad and I spent 9 months repainting it. We redid the interior ( a little), and overall just spent A LOT of time on the car. Winter is approching, and I think I am going to have to drive the car. As much as I do not want to. But I figured, why waste my money completely building a 1g when I can build just an engine for my 2ga Talon and drop it in? It will ultimatley save me a load of money.

It is also an automatic. I have been told by many people they will not break like a manual will. Plus I am in no mood to pay close to $2,000-3,000 for a Sheptrans; sorry, I just don't have the funds.

On top of ALL of this; what my dad and I have into the car is close to $5k; we would be breaking even to sell it at that price. But recently someone told me that we will never get that. This is another contributing factor.

With this little bit said, someone try to tell me where my logic fails on thinking the 2ga auto. Talon will ultimatley fail me?

(I might add I am 16. I work afterschool for not much money at all. Summer time is when I will be making enough to make this engine build REALLY happen).

Build them all LOL... It all depends if you want to drive a 2g shell or a 1g shell, and what drivetrain parts have less miles I guess is what I would look at.

sell everything and get something good to start with since you have no experience / money

I agree build it over time it's not like tour Going to have a 10 second drag car tomorrow. If you build fast your going to forget things. So just takeout slow part by part

I have always liked 2gs. 1gs have grown on me though. I would not have spent the money to buy a shell if I didn't like them, LOL.

The 1g needs alot of work. It will need a new trans because the bellhousing has a chunk missing from it.

I have money and experience. I have been into cars/DSMs since I was little. I know a compairable ammount more than your average person.

That and I have helped my friend completel build his car. On top of fixing a few of my other friends cars..
Lol, needless to say I have enough experience.

Start with what body you like the most and take it slow. If its an extra car and not a DD, chip away at it one piece at a time. Who cares how long it takes!

I like the 2g because I originally had plans for the car, but everyone I knew talked me out of it because it is an automatic.

If anything the 1g is going to be the power making car and the 2g will be a modded DD for whenever.

I still do not have an answer here people. The 1g is a completely stripped shell. The 2g is a car that has been beat and I have partially reserected it with a new paintjob and interior.

The question still stands: build a 2g auto. or a 1g manual? The auto will take more abuse, the manual will take more time to build. The reason being; Sheptrans. $2k+ for a transmission is a whole summer's paycheck. On top of needing a new trans too.

IMO standards are more fun, but the 2g looks a whole lot better. if you want looks, and performance, go with the 2g. if you want pure power, id go for the 1g. but thats just my .02

From reading your first post, the 2ga seems like the choice. It's nice, complete, and looks good (saw pics from mitsustyle). Although driving the thing in the winter sounds like a huge waste of body work to me.

You gave yourself the answer. IMO based on what you've said you want you should keep the 2g for a DD. Ya know, just make it clean. Sell what you don't want. If you can manage big power plans for the 1g in the near future then keep it, otherwise sell it for what you can and find another a few years down the road. But ultimately do what you want.

Why not put the 6-bolt block in the 2ga TSi AWD? Then use parts from the GST to clean up the shell or replace any parts you need.

Nothing wrong with having a powerful DD that you can take to the track whenever. Speaking from experience, eff having two DSM's to maintain. Work on one and make it what you want it to be.

Yes, manuals are more fun to drive. But I have heard they won't take a beating like autos. I mean, really, I do not want to build my engine, do all the work to tuck the wiring harness, shave the engine bay, put in all these man hours, then have the trans last maybe one pull.

Then have to rip the entire thing out again. Eww. And I am not buying a $2k trans. from Shep. I simply cannot afford it; sorry. LOL From quite a few people, I have heard that the auto. will be my best bet.

I have not looked into it yet, but I also have heard you can mess with the TCU and change shift points and line pressure and things of the like. However I have never seen anything on how one goes about doing this. Oh, and the whole auto. trans.' will last longer than a manual (stock).

This interests me considering my 2ga is an auto.

Oh, whichever car I do build will be 100% performance.

The 2ga is in a shed next to my 2gb. They are not getting driven this winter. My dad bought a car for my sister when she get's her liscense. Instead I am driving a '05 Neon SXT w/an SRT Design package. GEH'! :ohdamn: :nono:
I hate that car. LOL

None of the 2gs are being DD'd in the winter. They are summer cars I guess. As far as having high power plans for the 1g in the near future...well it won't happen. The car still needs body work, paint, and an engine. Along with interior work and wiring. ONE of the 2g's seem to be a better choice; as of now.

1. I do not want to do a 6-bolt swap. 2. I do not have a 6-bolt block, crank..or anything. LOL

I have a 1g; that's it. I HAD an early 7-bolt engine from a 92.5 car. I sold that to a guy a few weeks ago for a 2g project of his. It isn't going to work so he is selling it. LOL In other words, I just straight out do not have a 6-bolt, nor do I want to track one down.

The GS-T and TSi will be staying seperate cars. I am not going to combine the two. Hahaha.

Tear into one of the cars that is not already running. Keep the running one as your driver for now.

All cars are running. The 2ga has little problems like the tach. and speedo. being off from me removing the orange coating on the back of the gauges (to eventually switch LED colors), the steering is off (the steering wheel has a lot of play in it), and the car was once in an accident, so the driver's side fender doesn't sit on the car right.

As much as I hate to say this (I have my reasons and I will explain them below), I have decided I am going to be building one of the 2gs. Now I need to decide if I want to deal with a high HP FWD 2gb (or do an AWD swap), or a high HP 2ga Auto. AWD. LOL :D

Now, the reasons I hate to say this is because all I EVER hear from anyone is that my dad buys all my shit; all my cars, all the parts. And to be quite honest I am tired of it. I bought the 1g to show my dad, and all the people that talked shit, I could do it myself and all. I guess selling it off is giving up or something.. I am not too happy about that but whatever I guess..
