The SMIC you sleeper guys dreamed of?

Not really true. Just last night I raced some old school guy in a Fox body and he had no clue I was turbo till I told him. As a DSMer, when I look at a fellow DSMer's car the first things I look for are a exhaust and a FMIC. If I don't see one or the other or both, I don't give it a second look. Yes, there are many people that have gone 12's on Stock SMIC, I myself went 13.3 on one. But lets face it, now a days, people are adding FMIC's to their car before they upgrade from the T25. Being that most people that are going fast times have a FMIC, it is very impressive to see someone matching those times without one. Hell, I am still on the stock SMIC and own many people around here with their FMIC's. But the first thing I hear out of everyone's mouth when they check out my car is, "Aww no FMIC? My buddy would own you." They see a FMIC and you are God of the road. Also, painted black or not, I know a FMIC when I see one. Not many people are gonna hack their front bumper just so they can have more cooling area on their radiator.

I would feel much better if it were showed on a car that is running and not one that looks like it's in a junk yard. And price is all in the person that wants it. I like the way a fmic looks but I also like my stock look. I just removed my fog light.

Then that guy is a total tool. Did he look under your hood? Was it a light to light race? If it was a real race ( meaning set up and for money ) and he still didn't know it was turbo then he is an idiot and it goes back to my original statement ( " anyone that knows anything about racing knows what a dsm is... " ) since he obviously doesn't know anything about racing then and probably owed a slow car himself.

What does that have to do with anything? Not everyone is a expert about DSM's. You or I might be able to spot a turbo DSM from just driving by but that don't mean that everyone else knows or cares. I almost bet everyone here that goes to the track on a regular basis can vouch for me when I say people come up surprised when they see what these cars can do. Numerous times have I got the "Damn, you running low 13's? How the hell you do it in this?" Mostly coming from older folk that are into the old school stuff. I drive down the road and see some old school V8 am I supposed to know what cubic inch it is or what heads and cam he's running? Does me not knowing this make me not know anything about racing? I don't think so, they are two different animals. That's just plain silly to say the guy don't know nothing cause he didn't know I was turbo.
