From the engine shot it doesn't look that sick to me.. Stock piping and uncrushed 1g bov... You need a complete mods list to really tell. But in my personal opinion a dsm is was better than an 90s camaro..

i agree, i would get a dsm over any camaro

I know this thread is old but since someone brought it back from the dead, there is a '99 GS-t ive been looking at locally. Its pretty clean and stock besides the bov. I know very well what these cars are worth, but i wouldn't spend more then 6k on it. What you guys think?

Ok well I found this '98 TSi AWD. It looks very nice but it sounds fishy to me. He says it dosn't run right now but all it needs is some oil and piping to an evo 9 FMIC. The car is only 2300 bucks too. Here's the AD. 1998 Eagle Talon TSI AWD 5 Speed

it does sound pretty bad how he says it just needs some oil.
he should have it filled with oil all the time. you dont want to buy a car that has been running low on oil for awhile.

it also doesnt look like the greatest car, but if you have some time and money to put into it go for it
just make sure the engine runs good, no boost leaks, regular maintence, etc.

I don't understand what he means by all it needs is oil. Why cant he spend the $5 and put it in himself? You can always go and check it out and check the compression, but post eveything you find out on here so we can help you out.

Bring oil a compression tester and someone who REALLY knows their way around these cars, definitely does not sound right.

tell him to put the stock sidemount on long enough so you can drive it.
if he says no, then hes definately hiding something. because it does sound fishy.

well just from the pic i would say their is something wrong with the car besides oil.
he said that the b/s where removed and it was only 2k and then it needs oil.
and piping or a fmic.
it sounds to me like he done something when driving and messed it up and is trying to get over on someone.

i would pass unless you have around 2-3k to put into it
i think you can find something better

def sounds like something is up probably blew the motor after the rebuild or something is off with the engine... you might spend 3X more money on fixing the issues.... i say bring a mechanic and i guess some oil and turn her on... but i'd be very careful

Yeah, that's too much. $800-1000 would be more like it for a stock shell with no very little cosmetic defects.

Good luck and take your time searching for the perfect car. They are all over the place. Look on dsmtrader, tuners and any local dsm forum you have. (I have carolinadsm.com here)
