Heres one for you guys. How much could I get for a 1gb 1992 Eclipse GSX. Brand new paint job, dark shadow gray with black top(like stock), Super clean, like new interior, Small 16g, Fidanza flywheel, new clutch, pressure plate, K&n, 6bolt swap, 4 bolt rear, new bottom end<100miles, 2.5in catback, tubular headers. Super clean all around but has a few quirks that could be fixed - idle, door closed button thing, etc.

Hi there, I am new so bare with me. I have found myself a 1995 Talon Esi. Its a 5 sp Manual, and you guys know the rest of the stats. Its cloth seats, manual windows, cruise control, cd player...among other peps. I have taken it for a test drive and it runs beautifully. I mean I can't compare to other Talons, but for a car in general its a great car. And I was wondering if I should get it. The guy will sell it to me for $1,100 cash only. This sounds really good, and I have done all of the prodding that I can, in that...I can't find anything non cosmetic thats wrong with it...other than the handle on the drivers side is gone, both inside and out. Other than that it seems great. You guys have any input?

sounds good.almost too good! but make sure you get all the recipts and I'd go thru the entire car "or your machinec" the only question i would wonder is why they just completely rebuilt the motor with all those new parts , which must have cost at least what he's selling it for. why would they be selling it? all that time and money just to sell when it's finished?

Tough to say if it's a good deal or not. Depends if you wanna keep it or flip it I guess. I picked up a 91 talon with a buschur stage3, gt35r, magnus SMIM, supporting mods, suspension, clutch/flywheel, gauges, etc for $2300 (clean title, straight body). It was worth it for me since I parted that beez.

Seems like a decent deal tho, not the greatest, but ok

Ok so this guys is selling a 90 awd for 1500 obo! but its not running he said he was running fine before he let it sit! now it wont start! Any possibilities and is it worth it?

Your asking a very vague question, in your situation car not running from sitting can be a numerous amount of things. The first place I would check is if your getting spark, if you are then maybe the gas is bad. I think your smartest option would be if your really that concerned and really are looking to purchase the vehicle is to have it checked out by a local reputable mechanic.

Dead battery , dirty terminals . How long did it sit . If it was running fine why did he park it ? Check for the timing belt under the cover . If possible pull and check the ecu for leaky capacitors .

Not sure why he had it sittin! But its been about a month and he said it would take an hours worth of time to figure out why it not starting! So hopefully hes right! Im gona bring a Comp tester and some other things! My dad is a mech and hes advising me to stay away from the DSM world! But i had a 90 GST and i loved it(let my brother use it and he blew it up). Im juss curious if theres anyt other things i should check for before i make the buy!

It really depends on whats wrong with it. For all you know its could be something major that needs to be fixed. I'd say find out whats wrong with it first then go from there.

hey guys im looking at buying a 1990 talon Tsi AWD. its my friends car and it has a bored motor with topline pistons, big rods, arp bolts, cosmetic MLS gasket, cams,ACT 2600, TRE stage 3 tranny,gt3561 turbo with 38mm wastgate, fmic, rewired 255 pump and 850cc injecters, 90 emprom ECU socketed, DSM stage 3 chip,MAF translator gen 2, full KYB suspension, and upgraded brakes. now the bad, idle surge, needs paint and some interior work. I dont know much about these cars so im asking some people who do if this is a good deal for 4 grand. Anyone with info on my parts or idle surge please tell me any info that would help me out. thanks guys

The idle surge is usually a sensor on the throttle body. Everything sounds good besides the topline pistons, but I haven't really read up much on them...

I've been reading around the forums for several hours now trying to understand more about eclipses. I don't know much about cars at all, but I am trying to learn. I had a 99 vw golf tdi before but the engine needs a $1500 fix which I don't want to do. I am looking at a used salvaged title 99 eclipse gs. It supposedly has 109k miles. Has no mechanical problem besides a check engine light (he said it needs a tune up), and fog lights don't work (since a thief cut the harness). Its selling for $2800. Is it a good deal?

Owner said car was broken in twice. So they had to rewire some stuff from the engine since the thief cut wires.

I came here for advice. I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right section :D

You guys think its a good deal? Or save my money for something else.

I was reading around and I was disappointed to find out that the GS model can not be tuned much for hp. I've looked around for a GSX or a GST but I can't find anything cheap. I can barely afford 3k. But I'm not sure whether to save my money or buy this car. I probably would want to lower it, get it tinted, install a sound system and put some rims on it. Maybe an exhaust with a good tone (not too loud). I wouldn't be racing it much... but really... I am so confused I'm not even sure.

I posted same topic in newbie section and got plenty of support. Please delete this post. THX.

Oh just saw your post. Car was broken in twice. A bunch of stuff was stolen. The thief then cut a bunch of different wires. Including stereo, alarm, etc...

He did not tell me what was causing the CEL. Just threw out there that it probably needs a tune up and that it will most likely fix the problem.

I made a pass on the car. Dude told me its a GS. Turns out its an RS. In any case.. Mileage might not be truthful either. In any case.. his price was kind of high. I saw a 96 GST two years ago for 4k but I made a pass since I thought it was leaking oil. Now I'm looking into a 1g/2g 4g63. If I ever save up enough maybe even a 3g.

I'm also keeping my options open to salvage bmws and audis sold at auctions. I'm not too worried about the salvaged title either. In any case, this thread can be deleted.. since I put it up in the newbie section.. Getting loads of advice there.

In the future I might want to try to install new cams, a intake, etc.. but I heard you won't get much out of the 420A?

Well i think that one is a little over priced, But 420a's can make plenty of power if your willing to put in the work. Search around you should be able to find a better one for that price

and thats an RS in the picture thats an even lower model. Just for the fact hes lying to you about what model it is forget that $hit cause its just asking for trouble.

Well im going to be honest, dont get that car, if you want speed and fun. That car wont do it, but if your only going to spend 3000 than a dsm might not be in your price range. But there is hope for 3000dollars at least im my area( chicago land) there a tons of nice 100k miles mustang gt's. There everywhere and well last plus, there cheap to upgrade and fun. The DSM has even been said to be japans 5.0, but if your really want a nice DSM than a 4g63 is the only way to go SO SAVE, SAVE, SAVE

Good luck man,
