I need the whole setup all the bars that move the windshield wipers were busted. I can paint myself.but i have most of the car tore apart but what i think im going to do is fix everything and pay to have the timing belt fixed and then if the tranny goes ill buy one and just pay to have it tore out and put in.

hey im sixteen years old and i was looking at a eagle talon 93 tsi awd with a 104,00 miles on it. The paint job is this awesome greeen and this is what the seller has to say about the car. It says uprgraded 20G turbo, front mount intercooler,6 bolt motor,555 injectors, full 3 inch exhaust, new ACT 2600 clutch, new slave cylinder Hks VPC and GCC( dont know what that is), car is lwoered 2 inchs has 17 inch enkei evo 5 wheels and nitto tires and stock rims with other tires as well. He said the car was stored in the garage during winter and never driven in snow. Interoir is in good shape and no rust. so what price is fair do you guys think? i appreciate the help!

Yeah, I would say around $3500-4000. Seems like a pretty good base to start with. Maintenance also comes in to play though. If he hasn't done anything maintenance-wise I wouldn't even pay $3000. All the maintenance parts add up quickly, usually faster than the go fast parts, and much more important.

hey said 5,500 and he would meet me half way since were 400 miles apart. But im not sure 5500 way to much? he said he had multiple offers of 5 grand and he turned them all down

$5500 is way too much. You could pick up a 6-bolt swapped 2g for that price.

yeah im having trouble finding a decenlty low miledge one where is th ebest place to look and what can i saw to the owner to bring down his price. Also i looked threw the classifieds on this site and ive seen 1g dsm's for the same price.

I would say the best place to look is right here in the classifieds on this site and other DSM sites. Ebay is also an alright place to look, or even your local newspaper classifieds. Sometimes you might get lucky.

If someone is set firm on a price, they most likely won't budge. Tell him why you think it's worth what you are offering, show him similar DSMs for sale and the price they are going for, and make an offer. The worst he could do is say no. If he doesn't want to lower the price, tell him to contact you if he changes his mind and walk away. Chances are good once he finds out he won't get that much for it, he might give you a call. Good luck.

It just depends on where you look. I recently saw 90 Fwd turbo going for about 1200. It was completely stock and had around 150000 miles on it, but it gives an idea on how inexpensive a 1g turbo can be.

Definately have to agree with everyone else. Check out the classifieds on DSM Tuners, usually it's DSM Tuners selling their cars, and you know we ALL maintain our cars *cough* But yeah, $5500 is definately overpriced. If you're willing to spend that kind of cash pick up a 6 bolt 2g. You should be able to find the 1g AWDs for approx. $3500-4000. So there's no point in going higher. I know I'm just reiterating what others have said, but if one vote counts, then one voice counts too, right? haha!

I'd say even 3500 is too much for that car. Most people don't buy these cars for the resale value (unless its a green F&F knockoff) if he's trying to get that much out of it then I'd offer him 3k or check your local craigs list (and other places previously mentioned) and see what you can find... If I would have waited I would have an extra 2-3k and a better car :(

Dpendings 100% on how the car was tooken care of, I dont see someone selling a well maintained 1g awd stock w/o a smashed body or hg blown for less then 2.5 area. If its extreamly maintained and the paint is really good on a clean body with all thoes mods 4.5 seems doable to me.

But I payed 12 for my car so maybe Im just ok with paying alot for the well maintained cars.

Now another question you should be asking is whether you really need AWD or you just want a DSM in general? Of course there are drawbacks to each side, which I'm sure you can discover in other threads. But what would better suit what you need? Do you just need a reliable DD? Want a badass street car without traction issues? Just want to be part of the dsm crew?^^ Think about what you want the car for before you purchase it, and don't run into anything head first. Make sure everything is legit and maintained before you spend your money on it. I bought my 2g for $4,000 and ended up spending another $2,000 fixing things the other owner had messed up. Who silicones an MDP sensor to the throttle body? Anyone? LOL. Anyway, find out what you want first then spend your money, but be smart about it. And if you need help you know you got the DSM crew behind you, I'm sure with all of us here we can help point you in the right direction! Good luck!!

I wouldn't suggest one of these cars to a 16 year old for their first cars. They are powerful and fun to drive, but the harder you drive them and the older they are, the more maintenance issues you will have. There are many many better first car alternatives. Unless you are fairly mechanically inclined and have a good job I would not buy a DSM as your first car.

I'm with everyone else that $5500 is way to much for the car. It is not to far from needing a new timing belt, water pump, and timing accessories unless the guy has done them recently. The regular maintenance schedule is to change the timing belt at 60,000 miles and then again at 120,000 and on the 120,000 mile change you should change all the seals, tensioners, and the water pump.

Also I am with diggerzmound that this isn't the most practical car for a 16 year old unless you happen to really enjoy working on cars and have another way to get around. Any car modified the way this one is will be pushing alot of power for it's age.

hell im 21 years old have a job and a DSM is hard to keep up on them unless your loaded, have a huge amount of experience working deep in cars(for your age), been driving for longer then 1/2 a year and have a 2nd car I would not suggest it as a first car. not to discourage you but thats also alot of money for a 1g dsm

IMO it's quite POSSIBLE that this car is worth $5K if it's PRIMO - The argument that a stock 2g AWD can be had for $5k somehow makes a "primo" 93 NOT worth $5K is TOTALLY bogus - Just like a Stock 1G you can drop $4K REAL QUICK into ANY "average" AWD after purchase - That said you need to have a couple grand left in the Bank no matter WHAT DSM you buy~! - Also being every day your "average" 16 year old finds a way to DIE in Geo freaking METROS you may want to make sure your Mom is on board with what is very clearly here a pretty badass car - Do 93's have Air Bags?

well im pretty mechincally inclined i do all my street bike mantaince and i will be work at STS when i turn 17 yrs old so i will have acces to the lifts and more power tools.

I wouldn't get set on one car if i was you. I waited a long time to find the right DSM. It damn near took me 3 years to get the one I wanted and I still rushed into buying one. I think you should keep your options open and look around. :talon:

im with booostedGSX on this one, i rushed into mine, only to find out how HORRIBLE it was treated, somedays i love it, other days i complately regret buying this one and not waiting for the right one...

HAHA I thought this was funny, its funny now because its so true and things were so hard at the time. I bought my 97 eclipse GSX four months after I had my license. I bought it my self for 4K with a broken rear differential. Luckily I grew up in a garage so when I ran into all the dsm prone problems it wasnt such a headache. Im on my second eclipse now. Looking back on it now you guys are really nailing this dead on. The best advice I can give you is REMEMBER YOU ARE 16, KEEP INSURANCE IN MIND! the insurance companys will eat you up and spit you out. Personally I would have gone with an older vehicle for my first car there would have been sooo much more money I could have put in my pocket and/or put under my hood.
