if your doing a downpipe replacement you might as well replace the turbo outlet. or 02 housing. you can do dumped or recir but if oyur doing emissions i recommend recirc as you are blowing out exhaust straight from the turbo with a dumped. hard piping is a great upgrade. i have a UICP (upper intercooler piping) with a greddy rs and it boosts much better than stock 1.75" piping. and the TB (throttle body) has a much bigger inlet than stock.

Ebay has a set of Dejon tool style UICP that looks pretty sweet. Plus is flanged for a 1g BOV. Or maybie get a punishment racing FMIC. $500 well spent, ecspecially for a DD car!

Ebay SSAC FMIC. Good for 500hp, and even if you don't push it that far, it'll still be pretty efficient with a smaller turbo as well. You can pick up an SAFC and a logger for cheap too, and still have money left over for fuel mods. 255 pump will only cost you about $100, and you'll have a lot of room to grow. An AFPR would be necessary, as you will get overrun, but that is very useful to have anyway. 650 cc's are the largest injector you should run with SAFC, but seriously, leave yourself room to grow, because you'll always have that option, and you won't be pushing each part to its limit, so it'll last longer.

So in conclusion, ebay front mount (SSAC has been proven to be just as good as any $500 FMIC from a shop), SAFC, logger, and then pump, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and injectors. That'll last you for a while, and you'll be able to learn a lot just from tuning a little bit at a time.

I have no plans to upgrade this car's turbo. I really just want a few things I can bolt on for some extra horse power. It has 130k miles on it, so I don't want to add anything crazy until it gets rebuilt when the time comes. I was figuring new exhaust manifold, o2 housing, down pipe. Hard UICP, new BOV and possible a FMIC. Would I see some power gain from said parts?

Sorry i missed the word "not", by bad.

You would definitely gain power. You can maximize the power from your stock turbo plenty with the parts I listed. Fact of the matter is, you will need fuel mods, and a way to tune. If not DSMlink, then an SAFC, which would necessitate a logger. Just because you might be pumping up the boost on your turbo doesn't mean it will be any less a reliable daily driver. As long as you don't stay in boost all the time, your mpg won't be horrendous, and you won't be breaking things. Whatever you decide to do, make sure its not the bare minimum, because any parts run on the ragged edge (like injectors at 95% duty cyle, for example) will fail you much sooner, and that can cause other things to go wrong as well. First thing's first though, and you should get your stock exhaust parts out of the way. Just take it one step at a time, and really research and comtemplate, and you'll be just fine. You'll also be a lot happier. Good luck bro :thumb:

ok im parking my talon in a month or so and gonna start the winter mods, my question is wht mods should i get for around 2500-3000, i would like around 400 horsepower, and i basically want a bad a$$ street car heres some mods it laready has

act 2600 clutch
hallman pro boost controller
NGK 7 series spark plugs
Accel 8 mm ignitions wires
2.5 inch turbo back exhaust

and like i said i basically want a bad ass street car, i was thinking of going with an EVO3 16g but people say that i won be satisfied, what do u guys think how would u spend it if u already had the mods i listed thanxs

so what do u guys think i should get turbo wise and supporting mods, basically i wanna pretty much take on an ls1 very easily and stuff like that not stupid fast but quick

Get a

Intake
Boost gauge,EGT gauge
Wideband
Punishment Downpipe and 02Housing with 38mm wastegate recir.
UPIC Dejon maybe.
Walbro 190
DSMLink or DSM Chip w/SAFC for fine tune.
720 Injectors
Meth Injection
Precision T & E GT3071RLE
FMIC SS Autochrome Maybe.
FP2 or BC 272
FP Race mani.

id used are Classified to keep cost low.

You can reach 400 hp with the TD06 18g-6SL2 Turbo from ForcedPerformance. 400 whp is about nearing the limit of the internals, while others may argue more or less, I've seen over 500 whp on stock internals shortly before blowing it to pieces. So you don't necessarily need to beef up the internals. While it would be a good idea, you won't be able to do it on a $2500-3000 budget. For the most part, I agree with CPHunter with a few expections.

Instead of getting an EGT guage, I would get a datalogger. (however you may not be able to log knock, I don't know the generation of your car).

You need to get a full 3" exhaust. But you need don't need a 38mm external wastegate. You could get just a 02 housing from punishment. This will save you about $300 over the otherwise suggested 02 housing configuration.

I do not suggest a UICP if you are getting a FMIC kit from ebay.

I suggest a Walboro 255 over a 190, you will need a AFPR + kit as well.

DSMLink would be your best option over any other fuel managment. Plus DSMLink is WAY more then a fuel tuning, it is also timing tuning, logger, various contorls of everything from the fan to stutterbox launch to NLTS. And it's cheap when compared to something like the $1200+ price tag of the AEM EMS.

You could go with 550cc injectors but that would be a stretch. I think 650cc injector would be a safer option. 720cc injectors are good but a little more then you need for 400 whp.

I don't have any DIRECT experience with meth injection, so I can't commit on it. But countless DSMers on this site say they are running upwards of 33 psi on pump and meth injection on the street. That is AWESOME.

Again, I suggest the TD06 18g-6SL2 over something so big as a GT30R. A GT30R is quite expensive and is a touch higher then your HP goals.

For cams a 264/272 or 272/272 would suit you well.

With the turbo I chose, you could go with a Mitsu style cast manifold (ported 2g or EVO III) and still reach your goals.

To add on to what Paul said... here are some good guides that answer your question exactly:

I don't know what year DSM you have since your profile isn't filled in so I can't be more specific.

There are parts lists for different power levels. This should help you learn what your parts list should look like and then you can start asking more specific questions instead of a super general question like this.

hello im going to be coming up on some money, in the next couple of months, approx around $2500 and i was wondering what i should buy and where should i buy it, here the mods my car already has, and also my car is a 1992 talon front wheel drive

act 2600 clutch
2.5" turboback exhaust
Hallman Pro boost controller
NGK Spark Plugs 1 step colder
Accel 8mm Ignitions Wires

So far i think im going to get the EvoIII 16g, punishement Front Mount Intercooler, and all the supporting fuel mods, what do u guys think i should do, i would like to run mid to low 12's in the quarter.

I agree with all of thee above, a LSD would really help out as well, especially if you want to get all of your power to the ground!

DSMlink should definitely be the next thing on that list.

Thats what I'd love to get for Christmas! :thumb:
