....Just wondering, but are there any or going to be any "wiseman" that are NT? I realize that with turbo knowledge these guys may rule, but when it comes to the world of the non-turbo cars their knowledge may not seem so expansive....

I think the people who are appointed on the 'wisemen' team have a very good grasp of cars, period. Not just DSM specific. I for one could give you a recommendation on how to make an NT fast. I may not know how many cc's the factory injectors flow, or other 'car specific memorization info' but that doesn't mean I wouldn't be able to help someone with a question, and I think that goes for the other Wisemen on the board. Want to talk about building a small block Chevy motor? I'm game!!! I'm into cars a a whole, and feel comfortable answering questions about other cars.

Regards,

I think if anyone has the correct temperament to have the wiseman status, its Brian of paradox racing. or *ProjectGSX* I have never seen an unhelpful post, or snide remark from him. on this site,or any other. Anyone disagree? i think he should at least be considered/asked.

While I agree with you the only problem is he does not post enough. i think wiseman should be people who contribute to the site on a regular basis. His last post here was over a month ago.

If he starts to visit the site and post regularly I believe he should be considered also.

I think there should be some kind of link to dsm.org and the vfaqs also. A lot of new people really just DO NOT know about them. Personally I always liked reading through articles than asking questions on boards.

As for everyone was a newbie, well 2.5 years ago I thought changing my plugs, wires, and valve cover gasket was a big deal ;).

Also on the posting frequently tip, if I'm not on here much starting this week don't be too suprised. The eclipse should be back from the body shop at the end of the week and I will be spending my free time working on getting it together before the end of the season.

WOW, I didn't know you were doin' benefits packages too! What kind of coverage do I get? LOL...

in the defense of new people...

dsm.org was my first stop before bringing my nonsense here.
However, Try navigating that site at 4am looking for an answer
to an RPO code or something along those lines. It's just awful in
design, although it is full of info that I do need...
It is just so cluttered. (such a poor defense eh?)

No, don't defend them, they are all worthless pieces of amphibian sh1t. That's a joke. ;)

The thing is that dsm.org was just as bad when I started out and I learned a ton of stuff there, stuff that I see asked here all the time. Maybe people are getting stupider as time goes on and they can't help it. I doubt it. The truth is that there is no excuse other than maybe dsm.org doesn't come up as much in search engines or something. I found it at first by searching on msn.com. This was a long ass time ago. I didn't even own a DSM then, my dad did.

I don't know why people can't figure this stuff out.

One saturday when you don't have to drive anywhere I would recommend every newbie take on an R&R project, even if you're putting the same part back on. You'll start to learn where stuff is and figure stuff out just by looking at it. How it works, etc. Then when someone tells you about fuel rail spacers, someday, you will know WTF they are talking about because you have had all three of them sitting in that area under your sparkplug cover (the built in "parts tray") when you decided to pull your injectors out for fun one day.

actually I dont think Ive ever found anything Ive looked for on dsm.org .. I know the site has a ton of info but Ive gone there several times to look for something and NOTHING, NADA.. its like WTF man, i know this is here somewhere.. but damn the format stinks.. and whatever happened to the Talon Digest?? it like just disapeared..

I found VFAQ because of DSM.org. Also the "1000 already answered questions" can be usefull. Either way, if you go to DSM.org there is info at your fingertips.

It would be great if DSM.org would link to our Parts Guide - I haven't found another resource with a more complete list of parts for DSMs yet.

No problem for me I don't flame anyone. If you feel the need to flame. restrain and alert a mod a peson is making trouble that way it can be taken care off quietly w/o interuppting a useful thread with 2 pages of arguing.
Mutted - I want to compliment you on the wonderful job you are doing as a moderator. I have thought that before I read the above quote, but this just seemed like the place to say it. I see you attempting to organize the forums by consolodating threads and always doing what you can to see that Tuners remains a friendly place for all members - from the new to the experienced. You should be proud of what you are doing to keep this community together!

I refuse to give everyone on this site a license to use the popular "use the search" response. It's not the right solution. It drives new users away since it's rarely said in a nice way. I'll work on ways to try and make the popular answers easy to find.
I think this sums up why I came here and why I stay here. It is nice to have an administrator that cares about all members, especially the new ones.

To the wisemen: I second the request that was made on the first page of this thread. Using your knowledge to help rather than to flame is much more commendable. Thank you for taking the time to answer questions, however tired they may be.

this sounds like a great idea, i know on another board i browse through the 'wisemen' are assumed and you don't question what they say...
this site seems to be getting better and better every day.

This is the first place I've actually found where more then one person answers my questions with the same answer, instead of 10 people telling me to do 50 difffernt things. I only ask questions on here becuase with most aspects of my car I have No clue what I'm doing, and when im actually talking to people instead of reading info somewhere on the net, I usualy understand whats going on a bit more, instead of breaking my car. My funds are limited so i need to do things right the first time. But that doesnt mean I dont spend alot of time reading up...
