Wisemen and advanced tuners please give me some suggestions on the setup I currently have going into the car, I only need a few more items to finalize my project.

Sorry but this will be somewhat long....

/Stock 1990 6-bolt block: BS elim, piston tops smoothed and polished, no casting #s.
/1992-3 head: 1mm oversized valves, 3-angle, ported/polished, gasket matched, Crower spring/retainer set, new valve guides/seals.
/Stock 1990 GSX cams
/ARP head studs-82lbs
/Gasket matched intake/TB w/ HKS elbow
/Gasket matched and ported 2G manifold
/All new seals, gaskets etc.
/4-layer mits. headgasket
/Custom Front mount and piping
/GM MAF/translator blow-through setup
/Denso 660s and chip from DSMchips for them with 8K redine, 950 idle, etc.
/Aeromotive AFPR & guage SS lines, etc.
/Emissions stuff elim
/PTE 3255 Turbo - internally gated Custom intake with K&N filter
/RNR 3" O2 elim downpipe, and BR 3" SS exhaust NO cat (no emissions testing here)
/oil filter relocation kit
/GVR4 tranny/differential
/RPS2600 clutch & Fidanza flywheel, SS clutch line, New TO bearing, fork and extended push rod
/Full suspension, adj. camber yada, yada....

I don't think I am forgeting anything, but anyway here is what I still need:

Boost controller.... No idea, was thinking Greddy E-01?
Fuel pump.... Supra pump?
Logger.... No idea, which is the best?

And I was hoping to get away with tuning the car with the translator as it will be in the center console and easy to get to.

Please let me know your suggestions/ comments good and bad. Thanks Guys!
 
Money does not seem to be a problem so why not go ahead and upgrade your cams vs stock 90's. I would go with HKS 272's with your setup.
 
No, I'm not a wizeman, but if you want a good pump, get a Walbro 255. You have everything else covered I think, fuel wize. A Supra pump is also good, but they are alot more money.

The 272 cams are lumpy for sure, your idle will suffer as well as your fuel economy, but if that doesnt matter, they will make more power.

I'd also suggest spending some money on dyno tuning with a good shop that knows its DSM's. That 2 hrs or less will be almost more important than all the rest of it.

And how about a wideband O2 sensor? You can get them with incar guages now.
 
Thanks guys, and that is o.k. if you are not a "wiseman" I just want informed opinions is all. I am using this as my street car, I might take it to the track once or twice. Supra is what I have been thinking because of the noise, I allready have a 255hp that a buddy of mine said I can have for $40 if I want it, just don't know if I should trust a used pump. And I do not want a wide band really unless I need one. I don't mind getting it tuned if I can't get it running good, and I do not want to buy the HKS cams because of the above stated reasons. Street car, I will most likely run 18 psi. Keep the suggestions coming.
 
running good and properly tuned can (and usually are) 2 different things, especially at the beginning of our "careers" :)

Spend the money on a trip to the dyno. I think they have a 4 roller in/around Seattle? Not TOO far for ya.
 
Cams are a BIG thing you are going to want, they could be worth 20-40 horsepower with that setup. That's huge!

A Walbro 255 or a Supra pump will be a great idea.

You will also want some kind of adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

Gasket matching the head ports was not a good idea, but I suppose it's too late for that now.

For a boost controller, just run a Hallman or Joe P. MBC. There's no reason to screw around with anything else.

In terms of tuning, you can do it with the MAFT. However, there are two things you want to do.

First of all, you need to make sure you have V 2.0+ of the MAFT, otherwise you're just not going to be able to get it tuned as well as you want.

Second of all, you are going to want to get a custom EPROM burned with the options that you need in order to tune using airflow correction only. This means injector compensation, injector deadtime compensation, and reworked fuel and timing maps. I think Jeff at dsmchips may be willing to do the fuel and timing maps, if he is not contact me via PM or e-mail and I can do it for you.

I will be using the newest version of MAFT
I have the nice Aeromotive AFPR and guage

Why do you not want to gasket match the ports on the head?? I checked my intake manifold and exhaust manifold and they line up perfect now with the head, I did do a gradual taper not just the edge of the ports. I did not take hardly any material off the bottom edge of the intake ports because I heard it could be bad, they didn't need it anyway in that area, I just cleaned them up, and took the casting marks out, knife edged them and a small amount of port work, left them rough, around 100 grit or so. Please elaborate on this if you do not mind. Thanks again for the info.

Oh and I will do the dyno tuning of course, I don't have the wideband setup so I will need to go there to get everything perfect of course. :thumb:

Gasket matching just makes the runners big in the middle, and small on both ends. That just makes the velocity decrease in the middle, which is a bad thing.
 
I always love these threads, where kids have a 10-15 grand lump sums. To build these amazingly complete setups all at once. :laugh: If you have 15K to put in a 1000 90 DSM i suggest you sell it and buy a supra, since you 'obviously' have the money :thumb: :rolleyes:
 
Allright, I follow you on the chip tuning. I will be doing to DSmlink setup as soon as it is released which is why I am hoping to get away with just that chip and MAFT, but who know when it will be out. As for the cams, I will more than likely go that route after I get my dsmlink. Thanks for elaborating on the porting, I made sure to increase area throughout the port equally because of the bigger valves, and I only increased it slightly as the valves are only slightly larger than stock, I hope that wasn't a big mistake on my part, but I guess I will see when I get her running right?!

And Thank You very much for offering to help me with the chip tuning, I might go that route if DSMLink takes too long to come out. Please IM me or email me and I would like to discuss it with you some more privately. :thumb:

Liquid- How old are you?? I am not a kid... Unless 27 is considered a kid, I suppose old men (70+) talk like that but anyway... I have all the stuff mentioned and have spent under $10K on the entire car and mods, please do not hate on me. And if I wanted a Supra I would have bought a Supra not an AWD dsm, hell if I am so rich then why wouldn't I just by a GTR and spank the Supras ass all over the place... Get real man. I am trying to build a nice daily driver for under 10K, unlike my last $20K+ street car that was a complete waste of my time and money cause i let someone else build it and just dropped the $.

I am hoping to make a nice 12 sec. street car, not a race car.
 
Why is it that everything you have to share in most your replys has been you talking out your ass or being sarcastic?? I noticed you said you have a FP3065, so you must have a decent setup and you said you help bolt stuff on your buddies car.... Why don't you try helping me out and doing something good today, unless you actually have no idea what to say then just keep talking crap, like a little internet bi***. ;)
