The new DSMtuners Wisemen

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

The wiseman may know a lot about cars in general, but I can tell you off top that there is no way that they will have the same knowledge of the NT engines as someone who actually owns one or has in the past. On top of that how often do they go into the NT forum. I see them post in the turbo forum all the time, but hardly ever see them in the NT section. They may be quite helpful when it comes to the 1G NT's since the engine is similar in many ways, but with the 2G NT's that have the chrysler motor it is a totally different ball game.

Just wish to commend the admins/moderators on this site. Their sincere desires to assist "all" members is refreshing as we have all seen what happens when some people get too full of themselves (IRC, etc).

Although I do recognize the frustrations that some people may have in seeing the same questions day in and day out, the fact is that not everyone reads every single post on this and other sites on a daily basis. And sometimes research does not reveal the exact answers, does not explain it in a matter that is easily understandable, or is not a practical use of one's time (especially if the answer is simple and can be answered in a matter of seconds by a more knowledgeable person).

On a side note, and not intended as a flame, if I were a vendor, I believe I would take the much higher road and try to assist as many people as possible, irrespective of how inane the questions may seem. These are afterall your future potential cutomers.

Personally, one of my biggest gripes is how ridiculously poor some of the posters' command of grammar and spelling is. So although those self professed experts may be adept DSMs, their ineptness at other things even more basic (such as proper use of the english language) confirms that no one knows everything.

Again, great work to the moderators!!

Oh my god, no kidding. I hate crap like, "y0 dawgs wut turbo do u guyz think I shood get 4 my phat T4l0n."

I find it insulting that they can't take the time to form a proper post on a site that is largely technical.

This is the first place I've actually found where more then one person answers my questions with the same answer, instead of 10 people telling me to do 50 different things. I only ask questions on here because with most aspects of my car I have No clue what I'm doing, and when I’m actually talking to people instead of reading info somewhere on the net, I usually understand what’s going on a bit more, instead of breaking my car. My funds are limited so I need to do things right the first time. But that doesn’t mean I don’t spend a lot of time reading up...

I second this word for word.

I research topics, come up with questions, search and search for a few days for answers and if I can’t find what I’m looking for I’ll bring it here. But 95% of the time I am able to answer it myself or find some help that at least allows me to form a more intelligent question on here. I feel bad for you wisemen, you’ll be getting a helluva lot of PMs now.

I think this site rocks!!! I can usually figure out my problems on my own. Only when I am stumped do I post questions on this site. Sometimes they get answers and sometimes they don't. I like the honesty on the site, people genuinely want to help. ( I think?)

...and how to display something called "modesty".

What's the dwell of the stock pistons in the 90-92 cars?

The funniest thing about your reply is that you would actually know this, you geek. :p

Want a *real* Wiseman (wiseass?)? Snott is yer man.

Getting him to do it is an entirely different story, for which, I can't fault him. If he should decide to answer something on here, 99% of you (including myself) are going to be looking for some extra-strength Tylenol (unless someone has something stronger to offer) for the brain cramps that will surely arise.

Ahh...Scoooter nit-pick. Apply the word "time" in there. Be creative though.

It wasn't really a question I had anticipated a response from though.

You mean, as in "duAl"?

ooooooooooo haahahahahahahahahahahahahah duAl not duEl? well ill have to fix that...... man u guys are good..... u kept that secret from me for a quite awhile.

I see the wisemen are being reduced to spelling. It is a sad day. Aslan have you blown anything up lately? Turbo Guru have you finally got
your car running after the turbo swap?

Pete

You can say "taht" again.

BTW, too is spelled with two "o"s

Too bad I can't fix my car for nothing.

On a serious note, I have a question for the wisemen...

Will shaving .002 off the head require a thicker head gasket? I used Wiseco pistons (I think that they are 8.0:1), but now am experiencing a slight pinging in cylinder #1.

I have swapped coils, switched injectors around, but still get the pinging from #1. I am going to swap in another transistor today.

Problem is driving me nuts. Timing has been checked and rechecked.

you could always get a copper head gasket that is much thicker than normal. shaving that slight amount off could be your problem because 4g63 engines have a very fine setup for the valves. the copper head gaskets also give you much more seal for the head.

and damn man. who cares about spelling? should i #@%#@%#@%#@%#@% at u every time u make a spelling error and make a big deal over it? like OOOO U SPELLED THIS WORD WITH ONE TO MANY O'S U BETTER GO BACK TO 3RD GRADE. boo hoo.. im gonna go cry now cause u cant spell whaa whaa whaa. whatever guys. lets grow up here

eXploitedGST; Actually, if you are speaking of the SCE brand copper head gasket... it requires you to "o-ring" the block and head (that is what they told me when I called.) Although it is thicker (.043".)

Pete; No, I have not finished my car yet, I still need several expensive parts to finish what I started and I won't have the money (or time) for a few weeks. I am glad to see that you are back. :)

Joe

i belive that is the headgasket i was talkin about... thats mental that u gotta do all that special crap to get it to work. forget that. althought they are strong as ffffff

Well, thanks anyway for the suggestion. I believe that I have read/heard before the copper head gaskets were not recommended. I do not know whether it was because of the need to o-ring or something else. In any event the shaved head may or may not be the culprit. Appreciate the assistance.

As far as spelling goes, no offense met. I was just joining the friendly ribbing. You do not have to cry. Please feel free to correct me. That is how I learn.
