I wanna change my n/t talon 91 to a turbo but have no idea how to start help me out ###zzzz.:talon:

Just as an opinion. If I was you I would buy a cheap 1g turbo. It will most likely be cheaper and its way more efficient. Ive seen so many people spend thousands on a turbo for a n/t and still only dyno what a stock turbo dsm lays down.

Any sites on were i could get one besides here?

Ok this is what you do...go down to the local gas station and pick up an autotrader. Look locally for a GST or GSX or eagle counterpart.
Then as soon as you find something you like. Call him up, inspect the car and buy it. Then after that put your car in the same autotrader and sell it.
VIOLA your cars turbo!

Honestly man, check out the ebay turbo kits to get an IDEA of what you need. They usually cover it all. Oil lines, turbo, manifold....it's not THAT hard. I think you need to change out the ecu...er maybe someone else could correct me on that. Not sure about that one.
Also, check out some of the n/t turbo retailers and check out their kits and piece something together...OR just buy a kit. Stay away from ebay though.
You'd probably be much better off just sellin your car and buyin a gst. If you have alot into the one you got then do what i said above to get started.

Parts:

turbo w/ wastegate
turbo manifold
turbo injectors
injector resistor pack
coolant feed line
coolant return line w/ pipe
oil feed banjo bolt
oil feed line
oil return line
turbo oil pan (or current w/ bung welded on)
intercooler
upper intercooler pipe
lower intercooler pipe
turbo cams
BOV
turbo ECU or SAFC or both

The wiring is the part that will be the hardest. At you wouldn't be able to boost over 7psi safely in most cases. You will loose to stock turbo dsms. Hey but it is up to you. It is a fun swap. I did it and took it off. Boost is nice but a blown motor is a pain

Yea ive done this swap before your better off just buying a turboed car from the get go trust me.... Unless you have a complete turbo long block with tranny and mass air sensor, and injector resistor pack, and all turbo related components then dont waste your time.

The guy above me stated the wiring is the hardest part which to me is not true.
You can wire it up with your stock non turbo harness if you have a 2.0 4g63, if your a 1.8 then youd have to do a full wiring harness conversion which is a p.i.t.a ... Wiring your n/a 2.0 harness for turbo only takes like 30 mins thats the easy part. The whole big ordeal about the swap is getting everything you need to do it, and if you know how to pull an engine then go ahead and try it. The guy above did state all the parts you need to do it though, but if running with the turbo tranny you will need a turbo master and slave cylinder also, so add that to the christmas list.

If you dropped a gst engine and did the swap correctly then there would be no difference than you and a stock gst other than not having the factory boost gauge which you can always add... You will not be slower in any way.
But if your talking about turboing your n/a 4g63 then you can still do it the same, but will need a definite tune to lower those stock 1g timing maps which will cause knock on your 9:1 comp factory pistons. With a perfect tune you could still run about 20 psi or so just with lower timing advance but dont expect the stock n/a engine to last as long. The rings sit too high on the pistons and detonation will destroy those pistons and rings in no time.

If you are still interested in doing it you can pm me though, or talk to gsdewd or mavisky on this site who have done this swap before also. Like I said its not hard to do you just need to have everything together to pull it off, and some say you can keep your n/t tranny with a slight customization to the flywheel pin but I wouldnt do that. Ive heard the n/t tranny will destruct with anything bigger than a 14b turbo.
But hey if you do it at least youll have non turbo insurance still LOL.

i was assuming he had the 1.8. If not all you need if the knock sensor wired up along with the inj. resistor pack. Finally I believe you need to move some pins around in the harness to the ecu.

Nevermind what he needs to do the swap. Just find one that is already turbod. i got both my 90 fwd eclipse and my 90 awd talon for under 1800 total.

I did a turbo swap. I have a 1994 eclipse n/t that I swapped a 6 bolt turbo engine into(full engine that I built from ground up). It took lots more money than it would have to just buy a turbo car but in the end the satisfaction and the experience from doing the swap was well worth it. I now love my car so much more and won't get rid of it for anything. Just for your input though you are going to need many parts, hrs of tuning, and some rewiring of the ecu to get the car running right. I am now about to install a built head into my car and will be making more than 400 crank HP, so yes you can make huge power even with a swap!!!
