Okay heres the deal on this one. i just got a 6-bolt motor out of a 90 laser to overhaul, and the motor is NOT turboed but when i rebuild it i'm going to put all new internals in it and make it one. The car i plan on putting this in is also a N/T car, and i'm trying to clear up what parts i'm going to need electronics wise to make it run properly. What sensors will need swapped or added etc. and do i HAVE to switch out the ECM? or can i just run a seperate boost controller to take care of the turbo? i've never messed with trying to turbo a N/T car, so i'm not sure exactly how much will need changed.

not trying to rain on your parade but its a hole lot cheaper to just buy a gst or gsx...but if you do want to do it first do lots of research and deside what set up you want to follow. no planing= lost of wasted money... as for the motor if your going to rebuild it i say go with bigger pistons push rods pins ect, as for the sensors im not sure honestly.

i have to agree, especially if you're talking about a 1st gen. the amount of money you'll need to put into it...defitnetly better off looking for well taken care off gsx.

Yup I totally agree make surez you getz the big piztons and pushrods then deside what sensorz you want :toobad:

To the OP the easiest route for you would be to install either factory 1g or 2g pistons on the 6-bolt rods. Fuel and electronics wise you will need a turbo ecu, injectors , resistor box, turbo maf (I think) knock sensor and a fuel pump. I am sure there is a write up by now if you use the you know what button. :dsm:

we all agree here It will be SO MUCH more money to try and do a conversion than just buying a a turbo model.

I did it, and it didnt take that much work, or money. It did take some time but, a junk yard,
and ebay can be your best friend. Everything i needed was bought off ebay, except for the block. The most espensive part was the computer, You need a 6 bolt turbo block and you can use a non turbo head. Not that bad. Block was free!
