Hello everyone I am back with a broken dsm again. My 1990 gsx has been really trying to kill me. So for a while I have been fixing electrical problem after electrical problem and this is the worst one yet. My temp gauge has been jumping around when I am driving it will sit at the middle for a little bit but when I touch the gas the car will hesitate, slowly speed up then the temp will spike and it will feel like you hit a brick wall. This is the part that gets me when i turn the car off and turn the key to on the temp sits at the perfect level and the fans will kick on like they should. I was told it was my coolant temp sensor so I bought one and I am afraid to put it in because mine does not have a plug, it just has the metal connectors plugged in to it and I do not want to mess up my new one. So if anyone has any wiring diagrams for me that would amazing. I am afraid that this might be my ecu. Please help and thank you everyone.

The temp sensor with a single prong is only for the gauge.

Thanks for the pic man that helps a lot, but number 5 has two prongs do those have a specific polarity? The guy before me rigged a lot of stuff, so the plastic plug thing is gone.

Have you checked your coolant level? Not just the overflow. Low coolant will cause this issue, or the sender is bad. Thermistor type sender/sensors don't require a specific polarity so just hook it up either way (make sure you have the correct two wires)

Wlecmoe to Tnures.

Well if you're talking about the overflow, overfull is okay. But is the water neck up all the way? Like you pull off the radiator cap and you can see coolant right?

You can test the sensor though. Specs are attached
