A friend of mine recently handed me a turbo that had been circulating around a shop and I have some questions.

I've been running a td05-20g for quite some time with good results, the turbo has very good mid range power and I've been pretty happy with it. It is a cxracing ( I know not the best) but it probably has about 10,00 miles on it and has worked great.

The td06 I've had sitting on my shelf for awhile and I'm considering swapping T It is a complete unit, minus banjo fittings. Other than being a little dirty , there's minimal shaft play, other than a hair of up and down. Does not appear to have been leaking, the compressor wheel has not contacted the housing, and spins freely. It has the 10cm garret exhaust side, with the waste gate welded shut, and a three bolt steel exhaust adapter.

As I am still running the internal wastegate , would i be able to swap the exhaust sides to the 7cm?

The td06 housing has a 90 elbow welded on, which will not work with my fmic piping ( I have the jpipe) should I remove the 90 and repolish the housing or find a different compressor housing?

What kind of improvement would I expect from the bigger td06 housing?

Any other ways of checking to see if this turbo is a operational unit?

A td06, or td06h 20g won't fit in your 7cm exhaust housing. However, all down firing 20g's aren't td06. The td06, and td06h designation refer to the turbine, and have nothing to do with the compressor cover.

Appears that I've been given bum information. So what is this thing ?

Do you think this turbo would be a good upgrade if I had it rebuilt? Considering I would have to change manifolds and go to a external wastegate, or is it just fixing old tech, when I could find something more potent for street use.

That's a Hahn 16G....not a 20G. Same turbo as a Small 16G with a different compressor cover and too large of a turbine housing for the turbo. Hahn's good for poorly-adapting one turbo to a bunch of different applications.

awesome thanks justin! ive been a member on here for awhile but i cant seem to log back into my usual account so this is my backup. you were my next path on this turbo. should i post up some more pictures of this turbo? and what kind of potential would this have with your jedi ways?
