I have looked almost everywhere to the answer of where the turbo TD04HL (S# 49189-02500). This topic has been discussed and discussed but no one came up with a comclusive answer. I think This will help... The engine i bought was A/T, had green top injectors (sorry not sure how much they flow), the valve cover has a Titanium color. The engine fit a 2g almost perfectly, except it had no A/C, the oil pan was different, among with other little details... the exhaust manifold is almost the same as the stock 2g. I have read in Saab sites that the turbo flows much like a T-25...this cannot be any of the turbos that stealth316 claims it is from, first of all because they say they have integrated bypass valves...and i have read integrated bypass vavles came from volvos... i am not the only who has a TD04HL withouth a B/P Valve. According to this article, the turbo does not exhist...And they list alot of turbos for ALOTTTT of different applications. I hope some one can put an end to this question...remember green injectors, turbo seems like it'd have to use some type pf J-pipe to be used with a 2g, Titanium color valve cover...Some one put an end to this and tell us where our engines came from! How reliable are they? What are the potentials of these injectors, turbo, and other parts?!

Thank you so much, if someone answers this question i will sleep like an angel from now on...
PS: Correct me if I am wrong about anything, I'm here to learn and sorry for any super noobisity!!!

Hey man even the wisemen are here to learn more on this site. There is no such thing as a stupid question. We learn something new about these cars everday, i bet everybody can remember when at some point they didn't know jack about these cars. So don't feel bad for asking questions that you don't know. Trust me my friends want to kill me half the time because i ask them questions LOL.
The injectors, seriously i have no freagin clue since we don't have any specs on them other than the color. Somebody else might have a better clue than i though. The motor is a basically bullet proof block. The 4g63 motor has been in production for a good 16 years or so. Mitsubishi would have stopped making them if they didn't work well, and they sure as hell wouldnt' put them in the evo's. Basically on the TD04HL is a 13g or perhaps a 15g but more likely a 13g. The 13g's came on the automatic awd's. I hope this helps and if somebody sees an error in what i have said please let me know so i can correct myself but to the best of my knowledge that is the right answer about the turbo.

I agree its a 13g off an auto AWD 1g. My mechanic uses these as upgrade turbos for the 3000gt's. My brother ran this turbo on his 1g 5 speed because someone had put that turbo on before he bought it. I liked the turbo because it spooled incredibly fast and would eat up most t25's or td05 dsm's. Good turbo but small.

Automatic DSM's do not have a 13b turbo. Just the 13g and that is only for first gens. All 2g, auto and manual, both have t25 turbos.

My old 91 Laser Auto FWD came with a "TD04H" on the compressor housing. This turbo put me in the low 14's with some light modding. This thing spools! If I can remember correctly I was able to get about 15 psi out of this thing but didnt have the mods to support any more so I didnt try. Seems to me there are a few variations of this turbo?

Yeah, my cousin about punched me in the face when i told him what i posted. Aparently the turbo we compared the 13g to wasn't off the talon. ROFL

If you ever swap that turbo your gonna need new coolant lines, oil return lines, and I believe the manifold and o2 housing is smaller too.

Thanks for all the replies and info guys. However the last question is... Does everyone agree that this turbo came off a 1g A/T, I have read that the 13g says TD04 and that the TD04HL is a whole different thing. Well thanks alot guys =).

An auto 1g would explain the different oil pan as well (assuming it's a 6-bolt engine).

Try checking VFAQ for the oil pan comparison when telling a 6-bolt from a 7-bolt. Also, try searching for the color of the 3900 (?) cc injectors that came in the 1G autos.

1g Auto injectors have gray tops, the 390 cc, not too sure about the pan however.

You see turbo can't possibly have come off a 1g A/T i checked all the sites i listed above and they said clearly the TD04H came off a 1g Turbo A/T, TD04HL is a whole different thing...Like I said the actual engine fit perfectly I didn't have to purchase a 6-bolt flyweel and the engine which this turbo came off of was a A/T thus i used my 7bolt flyweel. I also didn't have to use a CAS used i the 7-bolt to 6-bolt swap. I going to take some pictures of everything sooner or later.

This is just a wild guess but it could be and evo III engine except the evo III engine originally came with yellow top injectors and a 16g turbo. They also came with the titanium valve cover that you say you have. These engines were 7 bolt, have slightly different manifolds, and other things.

Again, this is just a guess. As for the turbo, sorry I have no idea.

Get some pictures up of this bi*** turbo.

The turbo looks much like the one posted above...Maybe this guy who i bought the engine off of, used a Evo 3 engine, and 3K Gt parts since he knew he could make a bigger profit selling the Evo 3 turbo seperately as well as the injectors... Again thanks for all the replies I am still doing research on this i really want to find out the specs of this engine along with everything else... Again thanks for all the replies guys =)

Correction: i just looked at the injectors again and its the bottom that's green, the top is black. anyway here are the pictures:

Turbo is single finned
Turbo: 4 centimeters inlet...3.5 centimeters outlet
Exhaust manifold: openings are 3.5 centimeters by 5 centimeters wide
02 Housing: 5.5 centimeters

I searched and it looks like 2G 450cc injectors (on turbo model 2G's) were black topped. They are the same flowrate as the blue top 450's.

AGH what the hell is this engine a monster 1g, evo3, 2g, 3000gt hybrid from hell!??!!?!?!?

Maybe a JDM 2g?

I just purchased a JDM engine and it has the green 450 injectors (black on top) and the same TD04HL turbo and auto transmission. Must be a japan thing!

I don't know what car it came from, I was told that it was a direct drop in and go engine.. well, I changed the alternator, ac compressor and swapped intake manifolds. I dropped the engine in today and bolted up the transmission first and guess what....... none of the other mounts match up, they are all about an inch off. So what do I do now?

Swap your original mounts to the newer motor.
