I hit up the track again, to try out the new slicks, and wow they are tough to get used to, I got a 1.568 60ft and it was insane!!! It was very hot (103*) and there was only 3 other cars there... Guess nobody wanted to run in this heat! I was hot lapping and couldn't get the car to run right all after noon, car was breaking up real bad around 7k rpms, it just did not like this heat!
Last run was the best, and the tech guys said no more without roll bar and seat belts!!!
60ft----1.568

Thanks guys!

Very nice runs! Congrats on the PB (at least I'm assuming this was right?). Car is looking good and is definately moving!

Thanks man, Yeah this was my new personal best, and more to go!!!

Definitely impressive considering the boost being 3-5psi lower than normal and the car breaking up on top because they were running you through so fast you didn't have time to make proper corrections.

Let's see a PTE 6262-powered DSM run 10's at 27psi while breaking up like crazy beyond 6500.

The breaking up was nasty, but i didn't care I wanted a 1.5 60ft!!! If you turn up your volume while watching the video, you will hear it breaking up in every gear!!

Also, screw that track---too hot there---- I'm going to PRP from now on!!!

congrats, 10sec is quite the accomplishment, especially under those circumstances

Yeah the night-time T-N-T's at PRP will spoil you. Sure the track is cooler so there's a little less bite, but that cool night air has consistently made cars faster almost everytime I've gone there. All of Jeff's fastest passes were done after dark, many times the last pass of the night.

very nice run by talondave but...pte6262 at only 18psi and only a 1.8 sixty ft

That car sounds like it has a much higher compression ratio than Dave's, which would explain equal pass speed at lower boost levels. Any idea what the compression ratio is or what peak timing was during that pass?

all I know is the car has a dog box and a pte6262 which does give it the edge but thats not the point...u said show u a pte that can do what talon daves hx40 did but I did one better 10s at 18 psi! oh this car has made 701 at 34psi so I dont think its high compression at all. PTE is the shite u gotta admit it!

I said let's see one that could run 10's while breaking up badly beyond 6500. Anyone here will tell you that's like pulling a trailer.

What you showed me was a high-compression 4G63 making big power at low boost. :boring:

Don't make it seem like I believe that a 4G63 which sounds like a street bike is running 9.0:1 compression or under.

oh this car has made 701 at 34psi so I dont think its high compression at all.
Hmmm, well Curt Brown made 818 at the wheels with his FP3586 on E85 on an undisclosed compression ratio that is believed to be 11.5:1. His car sounds remarkably similar to your example.
PTE is the shite u gotta admit it!
You're right about that....they are quite shitty.

There has to be alot more done to that car then mine!! I'm also still on stock head... Last week I trapped 133mph in the 1/4 on street tires!
I'm sorry, but I just don't see 18psi putting my car into the 10s with any turbo!!!

Im not sure what your other mods are to your car, mind sharing? also congrats on running tens and hooking like a beast :thumb:

Every mod I have is in my profile!!!

True...you could come on here saying you're at 15psi and running 10's with the HX40. I have no reason not to believe you when you say you're running 27psi because your ET reflects where I think the car would be at 27psi. At this point I honestly think if you backed the boost off to 18psi and cranked up the timing, you'd have a very similar result.

Boost level is just like any other fuel type, compression ratio, or airflow discussion...unless you're there, you have no idea what is going on. I honestly believe all the naysayers are just too stubborn to accept that you're running 10's on a $200 HX40 that I rescued from a junkyard; just like nobody wanted to hear that you cleaned house in the B1 class at the Shootout last year using a similar-priced HX35.

When my AWD is done I may seriously consider bolting a 6262 on the car back-to-back with a HX40 and seeing what happens....change nothing but the turbo. By that time there should be enough blown 6262's out there that I could pick one up for next to nothing. :D

Nice runs, that's really impressive especially with that heat! :thumb:

My car sounds just like that. Maybe a little higher pitch to it. I have 9:1 ross pistons a ported head, non BB gt40, Buschur 3" TBE and a DNP t4 manny. Mine really sounds like bike. I went 7.3 @108 in the 1/8th on 28psi. Not tring to start a fight just my .02:idontknow:

Nice runs! How do you like the slicks? I just ordered some. Can you tell me how it was going from street tire to slicks?

Another thing is, my coolant temp was 220* the entire time, I was hot lapping, and my intake temp was 110* cause I never shut the car off between runs!
No excuses, it was just hot there and I'm an idiot and never let the car cool down before I ran again!

u are entitled to your opinion...but pte's are proven
Apparently so are Holsets. :D

..and what's this about opinions? The thread I linked was full of examples of PTE turbo failures when the oil supply was sourced exactly as PTE specifies. That is not an "opinion", that is called "proof of failure".

If you want me to believe that I can bolt a FP HTA68 on my car and go 10.3's like English Racing or bolt on a 6262 on the same car and run 8's, you're going to have to try a lot harder.
