ok the 1991 Talon i just went to look at has a slight idle problem, it revs up and down at idle, and when you touch the gas to try and rev it just a little it goes to 2000 rpms and then lowers back down. they guy said it was the idle air control sensor. what is ecactly going on here? its a 1991 Tsi Awd 5 speed if that helps any.

also when you get going it bogs down when the turbo spools up all the way. there is some kind of sensor that is in the exhaust manifold of the left side of the car. the wires are cut which was done when the engine was swaped out. what is this sensor and is it causing these problems?

On a good onte when I drove the Talon i fell in love with DSM's! damn these things are quick even stock! :D

1. update your profile.
2. a pic of the cut wires/sensor would help us determine what it might be.
3. The two issues you have may be connected or you may have several different problems
4. Boost leak check(as already mentioned) is easy and can help in more ways than one.

I just posted on how to check your ISC on there. I also gave another thing that may be the cause of surging
