2g eclipse gsx:

I need to check my intercooler for oil. I tooke off all the bolts/ screws i saw but it seems like its bolted in the back too. Do i have to take the front bumber off to get at it? Anyone have a diagram? Thanks.

anyone have a daigram of where the bolts are and what i have to do to take the bumper off? Do i have to disconnect any wires or anything?

Thanks, i'm new

edit:

and thanks rob, i plan on giving everything a good cleaning

sorry no diagram, but no you shouldnt have to take the bumper off thats just doing too much! turn the wheel all the way so you can get to the passenger wheel and remove the black plastic guard. feel for the bolts theres just a few. and No you dont have to d/c any electrical

i got those bolts out, but there were smaller phillips head screws connecting it to a plastic thing behind the bumper. There is no way for me to get anything back there to unscrew them

Edit: And i already removed the wheel gaurd

Sounds like ## shit is rigged up. The only thing I had to remove was the 3 bolts and of course the IC piping.

Taking off your front bumper helps, because you have alot more room to work, but it is not necessary.

Yeah, well i'll just play with it some more tomorrow. I will probably end up taking the bumper off, hopefully not, but o well.

everything leading out of the turbo removed. I got to the intercooler, took the piping leading in to it out, and disconnected piping leading out. took out 3 bolts and unscrewed i think 2 screws. its connected to something behind it, no idea what.

stupid question: did you remove the intercooler piping ?

ROFL I was going to ask the same question. I just figured it was a given, but you never know with some of the questions I have seen on tuners including my first ever post LOL

hey guys i dont want to thread jack but i was wondering if painting the sidemount with a thin coat of black paint would affect its performance in any way

And yes very bad idea. It will destroy your IC unless you know how to do it. Here is a thread all about it http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/bol...black-intercooler-paint-ic-merged-12-6-a.html

I finally got it off! Turns out i only took off 2 of the bolts (my bad!). The last on was behind the bumper and behind this plastic covering. I ripped that covering out and wiggled my wrench up there and finally got it out. Lots of oil in there so now i need to clean it: whats the best method of cleaning my intercooler and pipes? Thank you!

1st off thats not good to have all that blow by might wanna check for other problems too but for your question use brake cleaner spray a bunch in there swish it around and dump it out do it till no more oil comes out and then let it dry out before putting it back on and using it

well i think the seal on my turbo blew so i need to replace it. would there be another reason why there's oil in there? Thanks

depends how much if its alot its def your turbo seal letting oil get to the compressor side of the turbo sending it to your ic if its only a little bit it could just be from the recirc from the valve cover or the seal is just starting to let go

nah its a lot, the car smokes up the entire street. compression test was a little below average but passable (120s-150s). There was oil in the intake, charge pipes, and intercooler. I would have to rebuild my turbo or buy a new one right? I was thinking about upgrading to a 16g

haha def your turbo if it smokes up your street what turbo do you have now if its the stock t25 dont bother rebuilding it its a waste of money upgrade to a 14b or 16g but make sure you do all to supporting mods to run the bigger turbo fuel mods ect.

yeah, i'm pretty sure its a t25, ima get a 16g and set the psi low until i fix all the normal stuff on the car. then when i got more money slowly add mods (fuel pump and whatever else i would need) then up the psi.

make sure you get a real 16g too dont get the ebay stuff you never know what your going to get with those its hit or miss do you have a pic of your engine bay you could post up...if its a t25 it wont have a jpipe the 16g and 14b both need jpipes

the second one is a fake you can see it says turbocharger dsm evo3 on the side and its super shiny LOL the first one looks pretty legit im almost 99% sure thats real just kinda hard since the pics are from far away

edit: yea the first one is legit and you get a few extra things as well if you buy that one seems like a decent deal for 775$
