Taking off bars underneath the transmission and oil pan

Any problems to this? It will be street driven but primarily a drag car. The only problems I've seen are that that thy help in a crash and that they support the car structurally. Anyone have any first hand experience driving without them?

And yes I know that Volk sells light weight ones but Im not tring to auto x or rally.
