Oil Pan wont come off

Hey guys I have made sure I have taken off all the bolts on the oil pan and everything, only problem is, is that I can't pull the oilpan off, I am pretty sure its due to the oil gasket or seal that was on it, I've tried the rubber mallet hitting around the corners, and tried to flat head screw driver trying to pry a little bit. Any ideas of an easy way to get this oil pan off? (trying to pry it off was hard since there is barely any room to try to pry anything). Thx

try heating it up or something? or box opener...just be careful

Heating it up is not going to work. You need a thin gasket scraper. Hammer it between the pan and block and than tap it along the pan rail. It will cut the rtv out and the pan will come off. What ever you do just don't pry on it, you will bend the rails. They are easy to straighten out, but it will save you some time to not have to mess with it.

Thanks guys didnt have a gasket scraper and used a veryt hing flathead screw driver and got it off pretty easily. thanks for the replies.

AH yes sometimes those things are on pretty good if you havnet taken it off in years i used a screw driver.

get a long razor or knife to cut the seals/gasket/rtv
