Tires wont come off

I recently bought a gsx to replace my gst. Today I decided to remove my rear tires because my suspension sounded loose, but after taking off the lug nuts I was still unable to remove the rim from the axle. I was thinking that they must have rusted on so I've been soaking them with WD40 but as of yet it hasn't made a difference. Is there some extra step to taking of the tires on a GSX that I need to know about or does anyone have any suggestions? thanks

P.S. a chisel and hammer didn't do the trick either.

Just be DAMN careful you don't kick it off the Jack as you kick / wrestle the Tire - & I MEAN IT!

i just put new tires on mine today and had the same problem as you. the rears are a lot harder to get off than the fronts. give it a good hit, but as Buck said before, dont kick it!

rubber sledge hammer, smack around the back of the tires.
should come off, although, in our tire shop, i've dealt with tires that just would not come off, and we had to send them away.
it only happened once though.

Could it possibly have wheel locks on it Just a suggestion. Maybe previous owner put them on.

Rubber mallet and on the front and back of the tires.

I would just try the bottom front first and then MAKE SURE you are stable on that JACK STAND.

I concur with mallet and jack stands.
FYI, get some anti sieze and coat the hub with that so the wheel will come off next time.

For the fronts, you can place a block of wood between the wheel and the frame then turn the steering wheel.

thanks for your replies, I've been beating on my tires with a rubber mallet for at least a half hour and they haven't budged at all. I was under the impression that aluminum alloy doesn't rust.

Hitting the tire is useless. Use that rubber mallet on the inside of the wheel, not the tire. I hope that mallet is at least 4 lbs.

put the lugs back on but loose. maybe halfway on. then put the car in reverse/drive and just move back and forth. let the weight of the car break the rust off. just be careful when doing that.
