Alright well I got a 16g build I'm doing on my car now.But in the process I'm thinking about building a t3/t4 turbo.I found housings minus turbine, compressor wheel, shaft bearings, ect.You get the idea.My question is where would i be able to purchase the turbine & compressor wheel,And do you think they would be pre balanced so i could just buy the rebuild kit and parts and throw them on and call it a day.I'm not planning on building it to put it on the car right now.Id like to start it though cause my happiness with a 16g isn't going to last long :p
And what would be the best for this turbo a wet or dry housing?

Thanks

Wet or dry makes no difference....you know how to take proper care of a turbo in relation to hot shutdown.

What spec are the housings you have? You're probably going to have to build the turbo around the housings so you don't have to pay machining costs and stuff. T3's aren't as simple as 16G's....with 7 (or more) turbine and endless compressor choices, this could be alot more difficult than you think.

Garrett compressor and turbine wheels aren't quite as affordable as Mitsu wheels. When you buy them, be sure to ask the supplier if they are balanced and ready for assembly. Most of the time, they are.

It don't yet have any specs on it other then it saying it has a big shaft LOL.I will half to email for more information.I don't expect it to be easy cause if it was then it would be no fun.I know its not going to be as simple as a 16g either but i like the challenge.Anyone can bolt a turbo up on there car,but Id like to be able to take the pride in knowing i built it.Its a project turbo that may take a month to build it may take 4 LOL It just depends how many parts i can fork out the cash for at the time. The dry housing says the bearings are pre loaded so I'm guessing the bearings are already installed.
120.00 for the turbo housing.
do you think it would cost any less to build it then it would to buy it complete?

Thanks

You should try to find a T3 from a volvo or the big turbos from the mustangs. They are the standard T3 with the .63 housings and a decent turbine. Unless you know the turbo is good, a rebuild kit is a good idea. Otherwise you just slap them together.

We made one for my friends van out of the dodge T3 cartridge and hot side with a $30 ebay To4 housing. Not all T4's are the same. This one is really good for a dodge like that, high pressure low flow, maxes out at somewhere around 350hp, which would be totally boring on a DSM.
