Well the last 2 days my home-made u-pipe blew off twice. When putting it back on i noticed it was oily around the u-pipe but i desregarded it. Today i come to take off my u-pipe to clean it up and ensure its clean so it can make a nice tight seal and won't blow off and i noticed there was oil on my turbo's mouth and outlet.
I don't have the vc to intake hose connected so i know it's not that, has to be within the turbo. I checked for shaft play and it has none. It spools nice with no problems, I'm out of ideas ? Can anyone help in telling me what's going on ? Is it on it's way out ?

sounds like the oil seal ring on the cold side of the turbo is going/gone out. Might be time to upgrade.

If it's the seal going bad i won't even bother to fix it. Turbo might not go out for a good while, if it does 16g time.
It just pisses me off that it is going to start dirtying up my new intercooler pipes, grrrr.
Anyone else agree with this being the problem or have any other idea ?

It sucks bro. I don't mind changing the turbo at all, gives me a good reason to upgrade.
I just had wished it could have waited a bit longer.

just watch your oil level. No point in blowing your engine over a t25 turbo that has gone bad.

I check my oil level every other day so no worries on that. I won't even bother fixing the t25, i'll just baby the car throughout till i get me the evo3 16g and the install kit and call it a day.
I'm tired of this wimpy t2small.

It's very uncommon for a turbo to leak oil on the cold side if there's not any noticeable shaft play. Possible, but uncommon. There's no heat present to weaken the seal and take away it's spring tension.

A T25 has a dynamic seal similar to a newer T3 turbo on the cold side. Oil supplied to the thrust plate is distributed away from the compressor seal through the dynamic compressor seal collar. Without shaft play there's virtually no way for oil to leak from the cold side unless the oil isn't draining out of the cartridge properly.

Check crankcase pressure. Make sure your PCV is working properly (if your car still has a PCV).

Will do jusmx, and that's what i said, how odd for it to do that, spools fine and all, i found it very strange.
I was running my pcv valve to intake mani with a home depot inline filter as a catch can but today i took it off and went back to running a new hose straight from pcv valve to the mani just like the mitsu engineers designed it to be, i'm never messing with that again.
I'll give it about 5 days and see if that fixes anything.
Also since i did that i did notice that my idle is now a bit smoother.

I was doing some searching around and i had a crazy thought. I was wondering if it was possible for the thrust bearing to go bad from too much oil pressure ?
If you notice the stock oem oil feed vs. a stainless steel oil feed line is a big difference, and due to the fact that the aftermarket line is much thicker, the turbo was getting too much oil pressure, causing it to fail prematurely.
Can this be a possibility ? I have known this turbo from my previous gst and never had a problem with it.
