Symptoms of a dead lifter

Has anyone had a dead lifter? What are the symptoms? I am curious for a couple reasons

What problems are you having, is there a ticking noise coming from your head?

Not just a normal ticking noise either. We're talking a loud ass clacking. A collapsed lifter wont be hard to notice.

You'll get a very loud ticking that you can't miss.

Well if I rev the engine up and I'm inside the car you can hear a loud noise. and it soulds like it's a lifter but I didn't know what to do about it. It's not hurting the car or anything it just sounds bad. New vavles in the head ETC but i am still using 1G lifters

You need to update your lifters, and the problem will be solved.

Well I just got these lifters from another turbo car that my friend was parting out. They were working in the beginning just fine, I am just wondering if one of my lifters was failing I would have loss of a cylinder basically would I not?

You should upgrade them.

Did you bleed the lifters before reinstalling them?

Yes we did all of them. and we let them sit for about a day in brake cleaner

still have lifter noise? do you have a mechanical oil pressure gauge?

Try bleeding and cleaning the lifters again if that doesnt help upgrade them

Ok guys so I put in new 3G lifters and now I am not sounding as bad as it did but still I have power and I can not idle at all. I am thinking at this point bad boost leak, need to do another compression test, and I believe the TPS could be bad.

Anyone tell me if I have dead spots in my TPS would it cause major issues?

Narrow down your potential problems first. BLT, Comp Test, and so on. Find out what it's not, then go on the hunt for more info. Or you could do it backwards and get all worried over a potential nothing.
