Earlier this week I set up a Moates 2Timer with the Ostrich to enable on the fly switching between two different bins. A quick search showed only two folks talking about using the 2Timer, so I figured I’d write something up.

Here is what I did:

Install the 2Timer. Open the ECU, unplug the Ostrich ribbon, plug in 2Timer (note the notch orientation) then plug the Ostrich back in. Run the signal wire to a switch terminal, ground the other switch terminal.

Find 32k bins. According to Moates, you can use 32k or 16k bins with the 2Timer. I originally was using a 64k bin, Moates said I could use the GX / 29F040 / Ex remote / EMC3206 with it but I didn’t go that route.

For testing I set one bin with a really low rev limit which made it clear if switching was/wasn’t working.

Stack the 2 32k bins into a single 64k bin. I used the stacker in TunerPro, under “Tools”. Bin size is 32k, chip 64k, and block 32k. Select the input files, name the output and hit Stack. Upload your new bin to the Ostrich.

Grounding the 2Timer signal wire will run the position 1 bin and ungrounded runs position 0.

I’m far from an expert, but I was surprised that this setup isn’t talked about more considering the $30 price tag.
