i just recently bought a nt 93 eclipse low miles everything working the first thing i did was cut off the belts for power steering and the ac then installed an underdrive pulley and wires and a homemade cold air.... my friend had trouble starting his car so i helped him by pushing it with mine and after i had gotten to his house i heard a weird like knocking sound coming from the engine bay but it stopped when i would push in the clutch so i left it alone and continued racing and messing around, well just the other day i found out my transmission had a crack in it and the mount is bad. i was offered a tranny from a 1.8 and was wondering if it would fit on a 2.0 and how many bolts i have to take off and where they are located. i looked through alot off sites but i just couldnt find what i was looking for. someone please help.

well the thing is that right now i am really low on cash and my friend wants to sell it to me real cheap and he told me that it has a clutch from a 2nd gen 2.0 and i know eventually i will break it but i am hoping for know it will work seeing as how its my only car

Yes you can use a 1.8 transmission on a 2.0 car, but the clutch and flywheel WILL NOT work. the clutch for a 1.8 is about 1in smaller all the way around in diameter and the flywheel is a 5 bolt to where the 2.0's are 6 and 7 bolt. Also I had teh same problem you are and the shaft my throw out bearing rides on broke off. Hope this helps

thanx but like i said in my other reply he said that he has a clutch from a 2.0 and about the flywheel it would just be better to use mine then?? i am new to eclipse and imports at that matter my last car was a standard cavalier i was think of useing the flywheel cuz i thought it might be lighter but i will take your word for this

if the clutch is truly from a 2g then you're screwed as it'll either be stepped for the turbo model, or a chysler clutch for the nt. the only possibilty for you is the 2.4 nt 4g64 spyder clutch.
