I got a 99 gs. Ive already put all kinds of cosmetics on it, it looks sweet. only problem is its not fast at all! I researched the potential of the 420a and found a company called hahn racecraft, it looked promiceing. However i want to swap out the 420a and automatic transmition and put something else in. I know of the 4g63 and how much potential it has, but i wonder, is there something else besides the 4g63 that would completly destroy the compotition!!! ive got alightle over 10 grand waiting to be spent on this new engine project. im going to turbo it ang biuld up the engine completly. any sugestions on what engine to swap to? keep in mind that money is no object.

thank you for any help,

Greg

If you build the bottom end of your 420a, you can pick up a good turbo kit from Hahn and you'll be set, with the other supporting mods as well... ie: fuel system, exhaust, etc., etc.

I say sell that and get a TSi AWD or a GSX...

AWD AND TURBO.... :thumb:

WE DON'T APPRECIATE THOSE KIND OF COMMENTS.... This is a NON-TURBO forum. If you are going to post try to relate to the general question rather then "sell it and buy a turbo one"... :beatentodeath:

HE said he already fixed up the cosmetic side of the car. He didn't ask what car to buy he has that already.

There really is not very many swaps out there for the 2g 420a eclipse that boast alot of potential compared to the original powerplant. Your best bet would be to invest your 10 grand in the motor you have. You should not have a problem reaching the 400hp mark if money is not an option. Always remember though, the power is useless unless you can effectivly transfer it to the pavement. The right suspension and traction is highly iMportant with a built motor.

...OP should sell his car before disgracing it and just buy a honduh y0. Then you can do all the motor swapz you want. It's obvious you haven't searched at all, and we don't care how sweet yo whip is when you're asking one of the most repeatedly redundant ignorable questions possible. Please do yourself a favor and do a little bit of "research" before throwing around your spare 10g's :toobad:

HEY NEWB, WE DON'T APPRECIATE THOSE KIND OF COMMENTS.... This is a NON-TURBO forum. If you are going to post try to relate to the general question rather then "sell it and buy a turbo one"... Are you a Mitsu salesman or what? :beatentodeath:

Go to Howellautomotive.com. They sell all types of motors for our cars, primarily salvaged 420a blocks completely rebuild in different compression ratios, engine displacement, etc... The actual 4G63 swap will require many skills in fabrication, parts, and wouldn't be worth the money nor time. Once you build the motor to handle boost, proper feul set-up will assist your limits of psi to run. Search the forums about the motor swap question and you can easily find dozens of useful information for your question.. :thumb:

There's no reason you can't do something like this!

Just kidding. What are you looking to do with the car? Street? Strip? Salt Flats? Daily Driver that can merge well?
The options are only limited by time and money...

These threads never last long because the answer is too subjective. With enough time and money, you can swap in any engine you want (which was mharrison's point with the jet-powered MR2).

If you wanted a practical answer, than I'm sure you would've searched more before posting, and asked a practical question.
