okay so these guys dont have your mod and I DO. Make sure that you retightened the clips on the top of the intercooler very well. You had to flip it around, remember. If those clips aren't tight your going to leak boost and therfore...have your problems. Also, I had a mofo time getting that bastard to fit in the stock location, I have awful piping which I don't even want to discuss. Go around and make sure all your connections are tight. Get more than one clamp if you think it won't be tight. I have 3 clamps at one connection. Ghetto works if you work it. :)

good luck, and yeah...go to vfaq.com and do a pressure test...

Hey guys i am looking for new ideas in routing my licp on my Supra SMIC

throw some pictures up and let me know were you got it from, right now my LICP hangs low and ripped off the coupler the other day when i went over a bump.

:talon:

Stock suspension, level ground, this is how it is.

thats me :)

Anyways, as you can tell, the sidemount is kinda sideways in there. it will not straighten out. I can maybe get it an inch higher or so, but it seems as if I would have to cut the inside metal to do it. I have already trimmed the bumper on the insde, where there was a 1/2inlip sticking out. Any of you guys have an idea of what I can do to prevent me from running it over? Clearence from sidemount to tire is good. I can put the wheel well plastic piece in. TIA

mines crooked too, i just let it hang down a little and came to terms, is sheisty but for my setup was the only option. ruins the sleeper look if others know where to look. make sure you get your clamps tight i had a horrible time blowing it off for about 3 days.

***edit***
on second look, yours looks alot lower, try making it more crooked or switching which ends go to which tubes...
check out this site it may help, if you havent seen it alredy...http://www.geocities.com/bennyhoffb/cepadsm/supraicvfaq/

One of the many reasons why i dreaded doing this mod. I had the same problem as you it would scrape going thru speed bumps. It was annoying as hell. The best way to do it i would suggest is straightend it out and then buy some pipes and custom make the lower pipe. I got rid of mine after i found out the evo3 turbo was heatsoaking the smic after 2 runs

I dont have my camera with me, but i took out one of the pipes, and put a 90 bend in, and now its straight and alot higher. i just had to take the time to look at it haha. thanks guys. :talon:

so i checked out my setup and i actually used the end that you have at the bottom to connnect to my uicp, dont know how i did it but its in my 2g, and its only seeable by about 1 inch, dunno if it will work for you but just an idea hope you get it brotha!! :thumb:

WTF

can you post pics of it?

you need to straighten it out and you'll gain some clearance.. but its still going to hang low

You cant even see my supra sidmount get in there with some sheet metal snips and trim out above the intercooler. And cut off the tow hook. I still have all my plastic in including the duct from the front bumper. I did have to make new holes for the rear panel cause the cooler sticks out on a angle.

My friend is thinking of buying one for his 92 TSI. He plans on putting an evo3 16g on it. Do you think that will be sufficent enough for it? If so how much power do you think you can run through it before it reaches its limit.

it'll be fine, but getting it to fit and not hang low will be the challenge.

It will work good. I was running a 20g at 16psi daily with that side mount. Theres another guy on here that was running a 20g at 20psi as well.

Its not as hard to install as people make it out to be either. It does require some modification work to make it fit though.

I've heard rumor of a company out there making a 2G SSMIC LICP. Wondering if anyone else has heard the rumor or knows of the company...?

And after an hour and a half of reading through posts via. the search, I decided to just post the question.

Well since i have been downgraded to a "rookie" status i can still provide help in here.. I don't know many DSM "rookies" that have built a 12 second car, built a motor, installed a nitrous kit, programmed an ecu chip, etc, but i guess i fall in that catagory..

The company you are looking for is www.dejontool.com
I must warn you their pipes dont fit all that well, but they get it done.

It could be reading comprehension? ROFL

As for the pipes...dejon is sort of hit and miss with thier piping. Just like most companies. Hell even my Greddy FMIC kit had a slight problem. Not everyone, but I did.

Yeah, there's always tweaking involved with custom work. If there wasn't, it wouldn't be fun. I spent the better half of the day on google looking for this company whos name no one knows looking for a 25 dollar LICP for a 2g with MKIV IC and Tdo5h turbo housing. Didn't even think to look at the more popular company. The best clue I got to this mysterious company was RND or RDE or something. Please don't tell me to look at Road Race :) Ahh well... if I find any more info on this subject I'll post an FYI for everyone.

I just recently acquired a Supra smic and have yet to install it. What I would like to know "from those who have or have had one" is what type of setup you have with this intercooler.

Please include:
Turbo type
Amount of boost
Type of fuel pump
Size of injectors
Octane of fuel
Type of air metering (ex: stock, GM MAF)
Horsepower from dyno (if dynoed)

I'm trying to get an idea of how capable this thing is.
