Supra Sidemount Install

I say buy the adfx one instead. The supra sidemounts run 150 and after all the time and hassle it would be better to have something that fits easier.

I have the supra on my car and I like it... I have run over 25psi on my big16g with it and havent had any problems with heatsoak.

I agree 100%. For another 150 bux, you get a higher flowing IC than the Supra, metal endtanks, and a perfectly designed direct bolt on. It's a no brainer IMO...:thumb:

I too am getting the adfx sidemount when I put my fp big 28 on. Im looking for a little bit more speed for my daily driver so it will work perfect.

I've been there done that. The supra smic was a biatch to install. It was very ghetto, made the bumper stick out. I just kept telling myself performance. Lucky for me my stupid f*** body shop guy happened to drive my car and completely wrecked the supra ic coming out of his driveway. thats another thing: this intercooler sits about 2-2.5" lower than your front bumper - get ready to scrape, and lose ic pipes over speed bumps and stuff. Don't even try this ic on a lowered car. It would not be a good thing.

The good thing is, if you wanna bash in your frame, rig up ghetto piping, be careful around bumps and make your bumper look like a bloated cow, then you can get some decent cooling outta the thing in the end. I have a friend in CA who was running a pte 56 trim on a supra smic and was pulling r6s! fun fun.

later.

Any thoughts on the Dejon Super Big Sidemount for 2g's? They say it's rated up to 450hp. Anyone have any experience with it? Of course it's $500.

I started a thread for it. I'll have pictures and opinions up when I can.

I have pictures if anyone wants them. I used JC Whitney mandrel bends and a screen for behind the wheel. I even used the Supra's IC-plastic air-guide. All-in-all, I'm pleased with it. There is no "bumper" bending, although the stock side-light does not fit without cutting it out a bit on the light-housing.

I used a cutting torch and a hammer to install mine :)

Either way mine fits pretty good, it doesnt hang low ar anything. . . except I would rather have the bolt in one from adfx.

supra tt sidemount? how much better is this than the stock dsm? and how much do they run? $$. is it worth changing to a supra side mount or shout i just go with an adfx sidemount for 305?? i have water/alk injection and im only going to be running a max 16psi on the second stage of boost. how hard is it to install is it just a basic swap? i already have hardpipes. is the adfx one just a drop in procedure?

I just did this swap last weekend, I got mine off ebay for $150. Its a bit of a hack job, I'll post some pics to show you what I mean. I haven't noticed any performance increase yet, I'll have to wait and see what happens the first time I go to the track this spring to see if it helped with heatsoak. Since I already have it in there, I'm going to stay with it for a while, but I plan on upgrading to a bigger side mount ment for DSM's eventually. If I had it to do over again I would have saved for the dejon tool side mount, or gone with the dejon tool modded sidemount and added water injection.

In this picture you can see how the intercooler is wedged in their. I dented the frame rail on the inside and cut the rib off the bumber cover to get it to fit this good.

In this pic you can see that you have to cut your fender well. I over did it a bit, but this will give you the idea.

In this one notice how far the bumber cover is being pushed out by the supra intercooler. It does not fit very well.

What up guys...im looking at a stock supra sidemount intercooler for sale with the end tanks modded to fit a DSM. I'm wondering if there is enough room for this intercooler to fit where the stock smic is on a 2g? Has anyone use a Supra Sidemount on there DSM before? I've heard they can handle up to 350 hp maybe more pretty effeciently so im lookin into buying it for now, plus its cheap hehe. Any info would be appreciated.

It will fit the stock positioning of the 2G intercooler, but it will be awfully close to your wheels so you want to be careful. It may also require you to shave your bumper for it to fit.

depends what you want. If you want to be cheap, and you dont mind some(a lot of) hard work, then I would get it. If you could afford an extra 700 or 800 dollars for a nice fmic, then get it.

Its a pain in the ass to install, and requires "custom" work on your part. Some people have more trouble than others. Its WAY bigger than the stocker, and its a bit hard to fit in there right. Performance wise, mine handles everything I can throw at it with the 16g. When I get the 50 trim on we will see how well it performs.

But I'd definitely rather have a nice fmic if I had the cash for one.

you're definately gonna have to do some chopping and bangin to get that thing in there right. But i have heard alot of good things about it. Check out the intsall.

how about on a 1g? and how much size difference is there on the endtanks of supras and eclipses?

Anyone have any updates on this? I am looking at the adfx smic and for 300 bucks plus shipping it seems to be the best deal. I want to know a few things from people who have one... Does it fit directly in the factory location? Is the install as simple as removing the old one and putting the adfx one in, or is there customer work involved? Since I am pretty lazy and don't have any real tools i wanna be able to do this in my driveway in a few hours, is this doable or am i being retarted?

Ey guys, cant you like get a front mount core off off ebay, like the spearco ones, and pipe it still using the sidemount so you wouldnt have to get new uicp , you'd just have a pipe going from the smic to the fmic then from the fmic to the turbo?

That's ghetto as hell and probably has pressure drop out the ass since there's two ICs.

Building boost controllers with parts that you aquire from home depot is ghetto too, but you see people doing that as well.

Just installed my supra sidemount. My only complaints are that the bumper does bow out quite a bit on the side, and my bumper hangs lower under the driver's headlight but i think that's mostly related to me removing the bumper support prior to the install. The intercooler does hang a couple inches lower than the bumper cover now but not too bad. All of the pipes went on well with some finagiling, and we didn't have to use the sawz-all too much. Car feels a little quicker, but i am disrupted with the appearence of the bumper. Deffinatly a budget mod. Got a good as deal on all of the parts so over all i'm happy w/ it, FMIC eventualy though.
