Supra Sidemount Install

Its not, you will see pressure drops, but non significant to actually hurt your performance. All gains will be good with this intercooler. You should have VERY simular results as my friend had with his 1G. Definitly recommend this mod to anyone.

Refer to the VFAQ link I posted earlier for a picture of it. Basically all you have to do is pry off the top endtank and flip it around. Like I said the pics will better explain, and its not hard at all.

great mod, i did it a few weeks ago. the T-25 has new life :)
its kind of a PITA to flip the tanks and get it in, but onmce you do...oh so great.

Has anyone found a way to make it fit without cutting or smashing anything with a hammer? I'd really love a front mount but the funds over the next 6 months just isn't going to allow it

your going to have to "modify" the car a little...its just too big.

This summer I'm going to try to start making exhaust, IC pipes, etc. Maybe I should look into making custom endtanks for Supra ICs so you don't have to hit your baby w/ a hammer...

the way you have to mount it the bottom end tank will hang too low even with custom tanks...the stock tanks are only a few inches thick and with hacking they still hang low. i'm not sure there is any way around it.

Yeah, maybe not. Just a thought...
Thanks Antilles, we'll have to see what we can do sometime this summer.

i believe it is just 3 2.5" 45 degree manderal bends custom welded together, but it works and fits very well for the stock outlet turbo. It does hang down a bit more than the actual IC, which may be bad on a lowered car. I will find out soon I guess. One advantage is that you will scrape the pipe before you ruin the lower endtank on your sidemount.

As for the destroyed IC pic above, I have seen that happen enough times to carry the stocker with me when I go racing.

when i busted mine up it wasnt nearly that bad OMG but i am retarded and one of my brakets broke allowing it to hit the ground, busted an endtank and through it into the tire, no holes in the core just bruises.

Joining the group is easy and instant, but mea culpa, you're right.

It all boils down to brain fade. I missed most of my first two sessions due to popping off and then puncturing an IC hose (that same one that later tore the IC off the car). So I'm agitated, and I go out with Alan in the third session trying to make up for lost time, and I end up spinning in Lost Hill (http://www.buttonwillowraceway.com/trackmaps.htm), which tears up my front right tire. Even though there is over 4 inches of clearance at full lock with the car on the ground, the tire manages to hit the fender when I spin, I'm guessing it's due to chassis flex in our swiss cheese cars, who knows.

So I go to Bakersfield to get the Kumho MX replaced with a Sumitomo, since nowhere local had my size :\. I get bad directions from the tire shop and end up missing my next two sessions as a result. But I make it back in time for my last session, albeit in a very agitated state. I get out onto the track and I make about two or three good hot laps, I'm hanging tight onto the butt of a race tire E36 M3, probably worrying more about keeping up with him than keeping a good line.

So around my third lap, I come onto Lost Hill again, I hit the apex too early and too fast, and instead of turning in and risking a spin that tears up my tire again, or even worse, rolling the car, I decide to go straight off. Who knows if it was the right decision, but it was made.

So I learned my lesson, don't try to cram 5 sessions worth of racing into one. And the supra intercooler install might be fine on the street, but its not gonna cut it for rallying :p

How easy was the install, because I've been looking for a new IC so I can actually use a 16G andt he Supra IC is tons cheaper than an FMIC.

What exactly did you have to cut/extend/replace to get it to fit correctly?

I fmic is definately better, but for the price... I think Ill stick with my supra smic. Got it for free from a buddy who put a fmic on his mkiv. I noticed some decent gains... nothing to dramatic.

Going to be instaling a 3G supra sidemount IC.
Well It increase horse power?
Will the turbo spool faster?

I will also be installing a Ported exhuast manifold w/O2, will I be gaining
more horsepower.
