So many like to look down on the 4g64 almost as much as my old 420a. Proved the 420a could destroy a 4g63. Now about to do the same with my new 4g64 seeing as to my last one passed on to a better life.LOL. Was wondering though if anyone could tell me rougly how much I can get out of that SOHC head. Last checked the supercharger going on was pumpin a nice 18lbs. Now I dont want to convert to DOHC unless someone gives me low hp numbers for the current head. Any advice as to which head should I go for?

If you're going to be running 18psi on a stock 4g64 SOHC via Supercharger, you better have one hell of a tune or kaboom.
Even so it may still be kaboom, because the 4g64 doesn't have the best ringland depth and piston strength for 10psi+.
I wouldn't worry about cylinder heads, i'd be more concerned about keeping the engine together in stock format.
Obviously a built 4g64 shortblock with a set of good rods/pistons/arp will be able to handle whatever you're throwing at it with a good tune

Well I'm having some of my buddies who have drag racing cars help me out here. I figured as much with the pistons, etc. Lol. I just want to do something that hasn't been done. My boy was rippin many cars with a 2.3 98 Cavalier at just 6psi. So I can only dream of pullin off some similar results. But I have already started working on the head and rods. They aint cheap but all for the sake of my DSM and Rep. :D

Sounds pretty cool I wonder how its going to turn out! Not to start crap ether but stock for stock 4g63 is better to hold boost..and of course if you build a engine from the ground up it can hold whatever you throw at it. But good luck with your car and love to see some updates on it.:)

sure thing. we'll be startin to build in the next couple months. he wants to make sure i blow a crew of sentras away. they claim to be the best yet they're lead sentra had a hard time catchin up to my stock spyder gs.LOL. i'll be havin pics up in the months to come. oh and it wasnt 18psi. its 19psi. they tested it out on another car and he things it might be more since we'll be making a custom damper. whatever happens i just need SPEED!!!!!

Who or what gave you the perception that 4G64's are looked down on? 4G64 blocks are just as good as a 4G63's. The head may not be the best but we all know that. Also, let it be known that just because I said that the SOHC head isnt the best doesnt mean that they cant make power. It's just easier with a DOHC.

How did you "prove" that a 420A can "destroy" a 4g63? Please, explain that to me.

I owned an automatic 98 rs. I just put in a couple things into it like high compression pistons, exhaust system, walbro, etc. Wasn't turbo or anything. You should have seen that bad boy catching up to evo's, sti's and not to mention gs-t's. Gs-t's we're the easiest of the bunch. Never really had it dyno tuned but for some reason my mechanic just though something wasn't right bout that car since day one. I kinda miss it. Now the reason I say looked down on is precisely cause of what you mentioned. I'm always hearing "Oh get a 63. The 64 aint crap compared to it.". Well today I just walked into Norman Evo's Shop down here in PR. I asked him a few questions cause I dnt like jumping into things without a lil knowledge. Whe asked why I wanted to know and told him I was supercharging my spyder at 19psi you should have seen his face. This is a guy who owns a 9 sec Evo. So I kinda felt like I was on the right track. So I'm lookin for as much knowledge as I can. Any is welcome. I poured many hours into learning about the 420a so I could achive what I did. Trying to cut this time in half. My wife hates having me up all night looking for info.LOL.

I don't believe anything you say. The guy at the shop was most likely stunned by the wishful thinking coming out of your mouth.

Don't worry. You can post up the pics and results on your fridge when I'm done. I live for proving people wrong. :D. Oh and one reason for his expression is cause he didn't know the supercharger was customized. Wish you could lend a hand instead of venting your frustration.

I'm sorry, I highly doubt it would be catching evo's and sti's if they were actually trying. Not that it's impossible, but highly doubtful.

Yea. I guess the fact that stock they kinda got stuck at 145 and my 420A made it past 160 had nothing to do with it. Not saying they ain't pull away fast and far. Just saying that I did catch up. Now for the GS-T's they only get a half a car start on me. After we hit 40 mph it was bye bye. I actually wish I would have had a cam. I know it's hard to believe but oh well. So any advice on parts to help my new project?

Most people would say this isn't going to get done just because of the stuff you say. Kinda sounds like B.S to me. I owned a 420a with exhaust, suspension, headers, CAI, sway bars etc. I couldn't catch up to Gs-ts hell I couldn't even beat some honda's. It's really, really hard to say that kind of stuff and not have any kind of documintation to prove it. Once I see the results like dyno papers or video's I will believe it, until then have fun with your supercharged 64.

64'S arent looked down upon... i actually want to pick me up a na spyder and do the turbo conversion down the road. have fun with your SC project... S2K's like to go supercharged maybe you should check their forums i dont think we really have the space for a SC in our bays. and a turbo is more efficient then and SC

I never finished mentioning everything that car had. I just gave it off the top. I went through a lot of research on everything I could do plus tranny work and everything. It's all good though. Like I said before though. I really miss that old car.

Wow. You have really insulted me. I'm a DSM man. Pretty much all I've own have been DSM's. To have a different car would be like exchanging sex. LOL. Trust me buddy. You'll see a SC in my 64. I live in PR and down here they'll turbo a damn lawnmower if they're told to.LOL. You just have to have the money. It'll take me a couple months till I have everything I need. I don't want it going KABOOM as the first guy said. I'd really appreciate anyone who could give me useful info as to how I can better the head though. I've pretty much got the bottom end covered.

unsubscribed :notgood:
this is total non sense
the 420a n/t record is like 213whp, a stock evo would own the fastest recorded 420a n/t....
im sure they didnt know you were racing to begin with, then ricer flyby, yesss! i won im so fast

Yea i ran gallow 24 pistons which are super duper high compression pistons in my gs, then it blow up and me and the mad scientist ripped apart the block to replace the piston rings. I hit VTEC and everythign it was crazy.ROFL

hmm bought an awd shell for 1000, 6 bolt for 300, rebuilt 6 bolt with evo 9 piston for 1000 for a grand total of 2300 and swap all into my n/a spyder and turned it into an awd turbo spyder. hmm how much for a supercharged system?

What makes me sad is this "if it aint SOLD" it can't be done mentality most people have. I guess I'll be ready this time around with vid and paper. How many of you have even bothered doing it for yourselves. Obviously none. Not my fault I was catching up to overpriced cars. Like I said. I like going up against the odds. Right now the odds are agains me SC my 64 therefore I am only a few steps away from achieving it with a Mini Cooper SC and custom manifold. Remember kids. Laugh now wow later. ( Or was it cry later?).LOL.

ok i most def. have to call B.S. on that 420a against evos and sti's and most Def. on the GS-T. i personally owned a 420a rebuilt crank to cam and i ate hondas but couldnt touch evo sti or gst. i now own a talon TSi at 15psi and i barely touch the evos and sti's and as for the gst that depends on their mods.i have pushed both my cars to their max speed and my 420 barely went to 130 and it took 10 miles. my talon is at 145 in a fraction of that.ROFL

I got it for 350 of my boy who wants me to install it on my n/t spyder. His father owns a few Drag cars and is helping with the custom mounts and all.
