Right,

I bought Scummit - Woops Summit, typo. -AN fittings for my fuel lines.

The stainless line they sell is AWESOME and I'm very happy with it, but the 90* bend -6 fittings are terrible.

2 of them leaked from right here.

As you can see, this is the swivel part, it was loose, had a lot of play with it in the fitting.

These are the parts you have NOTHING to do with when assembling the lines.

As soon as I spilled gas TWICE on myself trying out another Summit 90* bend I put an Aeroquip fitting on, with NO play, and it DID NOT LEAK.

If you check aeroquip, the swivel isn't loose at all, it's very solid. I have 2 more fittings from summit on my fuel system that have play like this, and only 2 of the other 90* bends do not have play.

I'm assuming the other ones will leak as well.

Did I do something wrong? Or is this a defect? I just find it funny how I did nothing new and the Aeroquip one does not leak.

I will be calling summit in the morning.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Fragola also makes really nice hose, hose ends, and fittings!

In the past I have had that same issue with a fitting I bought through STM, not sure which brand it was though? :idontknow:

If you're doing AN fittings on a budget, I've never had a problem with JEGS brand fittings, however, if money isn't an issue I'd go with Earl's as Brian had already mentioned.

Good ole Scummit chinese fittings. :notgood:

Aeroquip does make the best quality AN fittings. I can't tell you how many times I've had to explain to people over the phone why Aeroquip and many others cost more than the ones Summit sells. Sadly, many companies are turning to China for AN fitting because 'cost' is the only way they feel they can compete in that market. So, we'll see an influx of issues like this from now on. The best way to combat the problem is to shop quality over price.

Regarding Earls; they make a quality product, but I won't use their hose ends. I like the rest of their product line though. Earls' swivel hose ends are a cutter type. Meaning they actually cut into the end of the hose upon installation, which can cause issues with loose debris. Earls' non-swivel hose ends are non-cutter (compression type), but I wouldn't recommend a non-swivel hose end for most situations either. I also feel that compression type hose ends install better and easier. All of Aeroquip's hose ends are compression style. And for black color hose ends, I'd recommend Fragola's 2000 series (their 3000 series are the cutter type).

I have never had an issue with jegs fittings.

I hope I don't either. I just did a whole new fuel system with a FF fuel cell, Russell pro-classic lines and Russell & JEGS fittings. Knock on wood....they won't leak.

Lofty, I'd check out JEGS hose fittings if you're looking to save a few bucks...or double the cost and go with Earls or Aeroquip as previously mentioned. Sorry you're having these problems though bro.

i used thou fittings before and had no issues. currently i use Russel fittings with no issues.

I'm using the Mr. Gasket shadow series hose ends and they do not have any of the slop of the affore mentioned Summit fittings.. I guess you get what you pay for.. I tried an ebay -10 stainless turbo drain kit, big mistake, total garbage. Ended up making it out of -10 Aeroquip and Mr. Gasket fittings.

AN fittings and "cheap" should not be used in the same sentance. Unfortionatly, some manufacturers took advantage of the injustry term, copied them (with little QA) and made them look pretty. True AN fittings are SUPPOSED to be a higher quality fitting than JIC 37* fitting. But I can tell you that if you get a JIC fitting from Parker-Hannifin, it will be MUCH higher quality than any of the cheap crap summit sells. It seems that many companies put more effort into making them look pretty than they do making them seal worth a shit. I bought an oil return line from a vendor, and with it I got a cheap-o A1 brand -10 "AN" fitting with it, and it seals like shit.

For anything crucial I will only go with Earls/Russel/Parker-Hannifin/Aeroquip.

For anyone interseted Parker has an amazing catalog. Most of it is industrial fittings, but they do have any JIC fitting you will ever need. JIC is the inudstrail equivalant (dimensionally) to AN fittings, and in theory, should work just fine together if needed.

EDIT:

Has anyone had this problem with extremepsi AN hose ends.

Yes. Mine leaks.

Atleast we got a good discussion out of this one huh?

I called Summit, argued with them on the phone for a while.

"Well this isn't a call we get every day"
ORLY cause doing a google search states that I am not alone.
"Well it is highly unusual, we can replace them with more SUMMIT BRAND FITTINGS!"
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I had them exchanged out for Aeroquips. Annoying, but the difference was only 20$. Grrr. I tried to get him to cover the difference but they wouldn't do it, even after stating it almost burned my car down.

Lol.

Don't buy Summit hose ends guys.

Always thought those fittings were too good to be true. I'm currently trying Russell fittings with the braided nylon line. Hoping to get everything together and running soon. Found buying from Amazon was much cheaper then going through Summit or Jegs.

ONE out of the FIVE 90* bend fittings did NOT leak. LOL

I trusted 2 in my engine bay, one on my rail, one on my FPR.

The one on the FPR leaked and sprayed shit everywhere.
The straight fittings seem OK but why support their shit fittings. Please I hope somebody lets them die.

Good luck to you, Jeff.

Damn that's gotta be frustrating. In the past I've used earl's and only had an issue with 1. Hoping the Russell with Braided nylon does well.
