1.8 4G37 N/T or 2.0 4G63 N/T?
i didnt get the chance to pop the hood yet but i think its a 2.0 reason i didnt get the chance to is the guy whos selling is leaving it at a garage and the place was closed when we met up and they keys were inside the place LOL i think all 92s are 2.0s right i could be wrong at least the stuff i found on wiki said that :p

From 90-94 there are two differnt N/A motors most common is the 1.8 The less common is the 2.0. There are not alot of aftermarket parts for the 1.8 unless you modifty parts to fit. And you can't make alot of power. If you want perfomace on a 1st gen N/A you want the 2.0. Plus in the future (if you want) with the 2.0 you can do a turbo upgrade. I have owned several of each and I tryed to get more hp out the 1.8 and kept turing them in to handgrenades.

i think its the 2.0 on wiki it says 1993 was the first year that the 1.8 came out and i am gettin a 92 so i hope wikipedia is right :) so for now im assuming its a 2.0 the guy didnt seem to know wich one it was when i asked him over the phone he kind of just said uhhhhhh i dont know LOL

The 1992 model does come with 1.8 engine. I have the 1992 dealer's service manual and it clearly shows the 1.8 engine as one of three engine available for that year. Stay away from the 1.8; it is really not worth the hassle.

i cant get the chart to post but ill take your word for it then but if you wanan see what i was reading its here File:Talon Eclipse Laser production.png - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia :( this better be a 2.0 LOL or id be driving an hour for nothing

If you have a 1.8L enjoy that great gas mileage. If you have the 2.0L and you really want it to stay non-turbo:

Cold air intake
62mm Throttle body
Intake Manifold
Header/Downpipe(4-2-1, or custom 4-1)
Cat-back exhaust
Hi-flow Cat
Lightweight pulleys
Aluminum radiator
Larger Cams/adj. cam gears
port/polish head
springs, retainers, oversized valves
Re-wired 190lph fuel pump, larger fuel rail, 390cc or 450cc injectors
4G64 Bottom end(2.4L)
BS removal
Higher compression pistons
Lightweight flywheel
Act 2100, 2600 clutch
engine mounts
Turbo FWD or AWD trans(there stronger)
Turbo Eprom/ECMLink V3
Serious weight reduction

Its extreme and not brand specific just what you would need to make power. NTs don't have air being forced in. So making sure the engine can draw in air easier is a must (polishing intake manifold and ports). 2G heads might be better for NTs due to the smaller ports having more air velocity. The 4G64(2.4L), high comp pistons, and headwork will be where you'll make your power the most. The turbo ecu would allow you to use the knock sensor and you can tune it with ECMlink. The higher the compression the higher chances of knock unless you use high octane fuel(93+).

Its a lot especially when you can just put a turbo on making 2x more power for less than a third of the price. Something to think about.

true :) thanks for all the help there i didnt even remember to put in the throttle body LOL everywhere im reading on the net says the 1.9 wasnt offered till 93 :( im kinda worried now LOL they were in the laser in 92 im really hoping google is being my friend today LOL there no way im gonna love the 1.8 if it has one it just makes the chance of ricers actually keeping up a little higher

I wouldn't even buy the 1.8 if your looking for power or modification options. At least with the 2.0 you can buy a lot of parts used on the FWD Turbo.

Just to help you out a bit I never saw a 90-92 1.8 talon. And I searched around all I see is 93-94 talons being 1.8L.

:) thank you now i got some peace of mind knowing im not the only one who cant find anything on 1.8 talons ive had my friend who owns a 92 himself say make sure its not a 1.8 LOL hes wrong :p

I worked for chrysler 90-94 talons can have a 1.8 I owned a 94 1.8 also owned a 91 1.8. If you want fuel economy and no power go 1.8. If you want to make hp get the 2.0. There are almost no bolt-on parts for the 1.8.
