First off, my transmission has always been butter smooth, no grinds, or anything ever. None.

Well last night I get in and the car doesn't want to go into reverse for shit, so I pop it in a forward gear, roll a bit then it goes into reverse fine. I get on the street and everything is alright, but third gear will not go into gear

I pop it in neutral and then 4th, and back to third... and it accually went. Well the same thing was going on today, Reverse, 3rd, and a little bit in all the other gears it is "crunchy" and just doesn't want to go in. I've been driving around double clutching, and just having a hell of a time. I dropped by a few shops and none had GM syncromesh so I'm going to have to drop by a GM dealer tommorow to give changing the gear lube a shot.

I was just wondering what kinda input anyone else would have on this sudden and strange problem. I havn't been hard on the car at all recently, nothing besides a little bit of normal daily driving... no new mods, parts, ect...

Thanks

get someone to shift gears in the car.... while you watch the linkage do its thing, make sure nothing is binding up... then change youre fluid, although I doubt thats youre problem, cant hurt anyways...

Heh I hand checked the cables first thing

But, I threw in some GM Syncromesh and it is back to perfect

On a side note, the old oil I drained out was silver, shiny and metallic looking That seemed a bit off

Anytime you change gear oil from the tranny no matter how good youve been to it it always seems to be like that. all silvery and looking like you might be needi9ng a tranny soon. You most likely dont. You know though that you have to have the EXACT amount of gear oil that the manual states right? Any more and it will hurt you in the end. I speak only from expeirence
mike :dsm:

I measured out 2.5 quarts. Close enough

On a side note: The drain bolt on the tranny is the gayest placed bolt on the entire car. I hope it dies.
