Subwoofer help

alright but the thing is that i had this same exact set up as before and it worked. i was running 8 ohms on this amp for a long time and it worked perfectly. i guess im just confused as to why it wont work this time.
i had a 10 inch motojoy on it and that is 4 ohm dual voice coil as well.

Man I haven't heard of anyone running a sub or subs at 8 ohms in a long time. Most people that have a single sub buy a 2 ohm sub and those that go with 2 run 2 2 ohm subs or 2 4 ohm subs depending on whether they wire them in series or parallel. Either way most people stick with a net impedance of 2 ohms because you get more power that way.

ya thats what i hear all the time too. but i also hear that 2 ohms make your amp work a lot harder though...
this is also a 2 door so i dont need much bass.

That really depends on the amp. Your amp isn't 2 ohm stable so yeah, it work alot harder. Other amps are made to run at 2/4 ohm stable either way.

Almost any class D amp you can buy new today is stable down to 2 ohms so you shouldn't have any problem running one at that, but yes don't do it with the one you already have.

if you dont have the amp wiring diagrams, you can go online to the company site and download manuals. read the manual and it will tell you exactly how to wire them with DVC subs and for which ohm level you want.

stupid question. but do you have the audio cables plugged in in the right spot in the back of the deck and on the amp? and also check for a manual on your deck. I know on my deck, I have a function menu to turn my sub signal on and off.

and is it bridged properly?

if you disconnect your sub, does the amp get full power? you just gotta start somewhere and testing different things. start from you main powers and diagnose where you start to lose the power.

yes it is bridged correctly. i have looked through my headunit display functions and there is nothing for the sub on/off signal. i have full power going to the amp with the sub unhooked. im just confused as hell. but im taking it to a local shop (im cool with the owner). its wehre i bought all my stereo equipment. he helped me on my last problem with anotherr car so i bet he will helpm me again. hes cool. if any of you live near belleville, i HIGHLY recommend going to Audio Tech. il let you know what the problem is

ok if you are intereested at all, itook my car to the shop but they were closed so i took the sub out and hooked up another speaker and it worked, then i looked at the other sub and nooticed a missing wire. i feel dumb but it works great now. thanks for all the help!

I didnt really read this,but check the setting on the amp. Freq has to be about 150 Hz and lower

This may have been already said but did you check the fuses on your amps?
