Hey guys finally got my talon fixed and I took it out for a ride around the block. well 3/4 way around the block I hear a pop and car dies. try to start it nothing there is NOTHING push the car back home (thankfully the car is light) well look at it this morning the cam gears look in time still. Had a friend crank it over and I was looking at the timing shaft belt turns out there are like 10 teeth missing on the belt and its a little frayed on the side so Im pretty much thinking the balance shaft belt went out and took out part of the timing belt and we all know what happens then.

I didnt have the time to do the work so I put it in a shop they said they changed the belts I specifically said CHANGE THE BALANCE SHAFT BELTS its a very big problem if you dont. so now not only am I out a car(albeit a backup) Im also out a few hundred dollars that I really didnt have.

Try and take it up with the shop that did it. I don't know how reputable they are so I don't know if they'd fix that problem or not being they apparently didn't replace all the belts.

I would definitely go back on the shop that did the work and show them why you said to change the BS belts and if they did change them I would have asked for the old belts just so you can be sure, then throw them away when you get home.

When you fix it just eliminate the balance shafts so you don't ever have to worry about it again. That's why i took them out of this motor before the dyno session, just to be sure that belt couldn't jump or anything and cause a timing belt wreck

They coulda screwed up the timing belt install and not tensioned it correctly which led to stripped "teeth" on the timing belt.

Bottom line...take it back to the shop cause its their work and there may be bent valves now.

I dont doubt there are bent valves at all. I tryed turning it over and there is literally nothing to cranking it over. almost like no compression. aka bent valves

Ill try but I might just either part out the car or sell it outright for cheap Im moving and going to UTI in a month so $ would be good. If I want another one ill pick one up in Ca. later.

bring your car back where your car was worked at and sue them:D

That sucks to hear man. Hopefully you don't have to sell it and can get the shop to warranty their work at least to tear everything down and see what all is damaged.

Agreed. Most LEGIT shops warranty their work and if you have a receipt stating the work they were supposed to perform that obviously wasn't, you should be covered.
