Hey guys,

I am looking to repair my latest "find" on my Eclipse but I am having trouble finding a part number with all the explosion views available.
Not sure if there even is a replacement part in this case.

This is the area in question:

As you can see it's done for.
I was looking at Parts MR125653, MB959327 and MB959264. Although I am pretty sure that the first 2 part numbers aren't it, but I just can't tell.

MB959264 looked promising until I saw the length on all the views. As far as I can tell the part I need ends at this line:

I could be wrong but paying roughly 350€, just to find out whether that's what I am looking for or not, is just too much.

This here is a picture from another angle. If someone was confused as to where this is.

I could also cut out the area and have it remade, but my skills aren't good enough to cut it out neatly, so that someone could make a copy of it.
Trying to find someone in my area that could cut it out for me proves nearly impossible so far.

So I'd appreciate any help since I am at a total stop right now.

Kind regards
Tyron

If anyone comes across this post, I didn't manage to find any replaceable part. Neither as a new part on the web or on a suitable donor. You might be able to find a good donor and cut it out but I didn't. I got myself someone who does Body Work for a living, though I had to make some adjustments afterwards. I'll spare you the details.

This post is just so that I can mark this as a solution and be done with this whole "experience".
With my experience in the body field, I would guess that is considered part of the chassis and not a “serviceable” part. I could be wrong, but finding one would be very difficult. Best bet would be asking for someone with a rust free parts donor to drill them off and sell them to you. Could also fave a fab shop make you a set.

I would find it hard to believe that the part number is even available anymore even if it is the right number, a donor car or a custom piece of metal might be what you are forced to go with, there are companies such as Rust Buster that make repair panels for rusty areas on vehicles but I dont think that they make anything for Dsm, although with enough interest in repair panels they very well might start making some.

New sheetmetal parts are basically unobtainable for 90s Mitsubishis. They cleared it out a long time ago. Back in the 90s, insurance would have to pay out for OEM sheetmetal and depleted stocks, and Mitsubishi would’ve dumped anything remaining because it takes up so much space. Even smaller stuff is just impossible, doubly so if it’s a part that rusts. Someone will have a rust-free cut and you’ll have to do it that way, but it’s still doable.

Hey Guys,

I greatly appreciate your comments.

The option with a donor was also on my mind but in Germany, a DSM itself is pretty rare. Even more a donor without rust. I am still looking into a couple but I doubt that I'll find a good one.

Guess I'll try my luck with MB959264 and see where that leads. Worst case, it won't be the part and that's that. Better than doing nothing at this point.

Whilst that is happening (shipping etc.) I am still looking to find someone with more Bodywork experience than me and have it remade as some of you suggested.

Which would be the best case scenario.

But that's also dependent on whether I find someone or not. 😅
