stuck in second.. help ..

ok, i got a 1g with a stock auto tranny. the car has been sitting for 5 yrs and i took it out last week everything is great . i changed the radiator for a new one, changed the oil and filter. i noticed that there were some drips on my tranny pan under the car so i cleaned it and tightend the screws on the pan. ok. then i checked the fluid and it was almost empty so i put about a 1 qt and a half in. and its not changing out of second gear no fisrt just second. why. but sometimes its fine, and sometimes its not. i dont understand please help...

You need to open up your TCU and see if the board is ok...It might be going out on you...

Also check for broken wires near the tranny dipstick . There is a few sensor plugged in down there that can cause these problems. Also check your fuses in the fuse box under the dash there is one in there if it blows it will not shift gears. If you shut it off and turn it on and can up shift then never goes back to first that is prbably circuit a. Which is a sensor on top of the tranny.
