Strut Fork Help!?!?

Alright guys I'm trying to install new struts and I'm having a problem getting the top of the strut fork (BLUE) to fit over the three little stop notches (GREEN) in the strut, I can only get the BLUE mark to slide up to the RED mark...does it stay under the notches or are they in the middle of the strut fork or completely passed the notches...If anything doesn't make sense let me know!

Yellow strut is not mine only an example
Black Monroe strut is the one I have
