I have tried everything possible and have yet to reach a solution. After changing my fuel pump i fired the car up and it ran fine on my eprom tune for the fuel pressure change i did. I parked the car and plugged my fuel sender in, my pump is direct wired, so i ran it first before putting everything back together. Anyway, after plugging in the unit, my car will not start. The cel lights up, pin 110 gets power when the key is turned to the on position. Pins 63, and 66 go from 12v to ground when the key is turned to on. The car cranks but doesn't start. The boost gauge does not go to zero when the ecu powers up. The coil and ptu get 12v when the car is keyed on.
All of this lead me to believe my ecu had taken a dump. 3 other working ecu's do the same thing. Sometimes, i turn the car on and the gauge goes to zero and the car will run, with no error codes on mmcd. When the issue is in effect i get a ecu comm error message on mmcd. I have also tried another mpi relay or 3. The only problem that was visible was a blown anti theft fuse, i replaced it and it doesn't blow again. It is possible that the fuel pump power wire from the mpi relay shorted, but all of the mpi functions check out. I removed my hotwire and ran the original wiring and the pump runs and primes when it is supposed to. Any fresh ideas are welcome.
Well, after putting an ecu on my bench and powering it up, no boot. I had been using the same eprom chip in all of the ecus, It was in a socket, and i just put the socket in the other ecu sockets to test them, because they are machine pin sockets and pulling them out, and putting them in can damage the chip(doh). One of the legs on the eprom was cracked. I put a bone stock ecu in the car and the boost gauge went to zero on power up, the only common component between the 3 ecu's i tried was the chip. Closer inspection revealed the cracked lead.
