strange power steering pump connector

ok, i completly finished dropping my motor back in my car and hooking up all the wiring on friday. my question ismy friend that was helping me broke off a little connector that slipped onto a really tiny bump on the power steering pump. he took the little bump off of the pump, so i am wondering if this is bad or not

sorry i dont know what the hell that thing is. mine always just falls off and it doesnt seem to effect anything that i can tell. it must not be too important if it falls off every other time i drive.

i hope it doesnt effect anything. if it doesnt do anything y on earth did mitsubishi put it there?

That switch is to tell the ecu when you are putting a large load on the power steering pump(turning the wheel far at slow speeds) so it can bump up the rpm's slightly.

Try it, but if your car boggs or dies in the parking lot you would know why now.

well would i just be able to solder it back on? i still have the tab that broke off the pump

Well, soldering works well for strands of wires, but it won't hold a solid piece of metal like that. You can try, but it would be a temporary fix. If you don't have a problem stalling out during parking lot maneuvers, you can live with out it.
