Ever since I got my gst running a few months ago the power steering had squealed randomly while turning. I replaced the belt. When that didn't fix it I re tensioned the belt and topped off the fluid. That didn't help either. A few days ago on my way home from work the noise got really bad and sounded like metal on metal like I had no fluid. Sure enough when I got home and checked there was none. Long story short I fixed the leak and it now holds fluid. Here's the weird part. When I refilled the resivour I bled the system and the noise went away, but as soon as I moved the car(literally only moved it 3 feet) the noise came back. Now any time I put a load on the motor the noise gets really bad but goes away if I just turn the wheel while idling. Is the pump shot or is there something else wrong?

I would try bleeding the system again, then let the car sit for awhile to let any other air come out. If worse comes to worse, a working used might shouldn't be hard to find that could just try.

I agree try bleeding it and do multiple bump stop to bump stop while parked. After that recheck fluid. If it continues get a pump. I have one or two laying around just so you know.
