i was driving yesterday... in 2nd gear and i started feeling a strange vibration on the foot pedals at 3000 rpm ... then when i rev higher than 3000 i feel it more.... it happens in every gear and just out of no where... i can feel it mainly on the pedals the steering wheel and shifter... its driving me insane... any ideas anyone?

Either you need new mounts, or your harmonic balancer needs re-timed.

Both those things are known to cause anywhere from moderate to severe engine vibration

I would try re-timing it first :)

I'm tellin ya check out that timing, and your mounts

Time the harmonic balancer? WTF

only when its revved over 3k rpm even in neutral i feel it.. its a very noticable change in vibration... the passenger doesnt quite notice it but i (drive) can feel it vibrating throughout the pedals... before there was barely any vibration on them

Sounds like balance shafts out of phase or only one shaft turning. Since it just started the first place to look is, as blckndpo0ln said, the balance shaft belt.

The imbalance is normally felt in the car when the frequency of the shafts reach resonance with the natural frequency of the chassis; usually about 2800 RPM.

+1 on the balance shaft belt. Perfect opportunity to install the bal. shaft elimination kit if you are up to it. Check out the vfaq for details (VFAQ Site - Visual Frequently Answered Questions). If it is indeed the bal. belt, you are lucky it didn't take the timing belt with it. I'd pull the t-belt bottom cover and check it out asap.

yeah its beginning to get pretty loud ... before i would just feel it.. now i can hear it... and the power steering pulley assembly is shaking and making a ticking now.... so i should just get the balance shaft eliminator kit?

LOL, Guy. ROFL

If you can visibly see shaking, then I think you have other issues. My suggestion would be to park the car, remove the timing components and see what's going on in there.

i have the same problem... my harmonic balancer came unpressed/ broke in half, and after replacing it, my whole car shakes and rattles like a mo fo. i saw the same thing in the power steering so i removed it and it is still doing it... balance shaft eliminator kit here i come!!! LOL ive had it torn down 3 times now and checked everything. i dont see what else it could be

where are the motor covers? are you talking about the ones in behind the drivers wheel well? and is there a way to see if the bs's have already been taken out?

Yes those are the covers he was talking about. i had vibration like you described and it turned out to be my balancer separated on me. replaced it and not vibration, but it does sound like you broke a belt. if that is the case make sure to check the timing belt make sure it didn't get damaged if even a knick in it i would replace it. you would hate life if it fails ans takes out your head.

I wouldn't even drive it much more until you get that checked out. If for some reason it affects that t-belt and it snaps, way more money will be required than just keeping up with the maintanence.
