Bought a new turbo a month ago. I don't have all the parts to install yet. I still need a few gaskets and lines. I won't be able to pruchase them for another two three weeks though.

So is there anything I should do with the turbo to store it. It has never been used its BRAND NEW. Or just keep it in a dry safe place so nothing gets in or near the turbo.

Yeah its fine, keep it covered up somewheres out of the way. No different sitting there then sitting on a shelf somewheres waiting to be bought.

Yes, nothing special just keep it covered or tape up the coolent & oil passages to keep foreign objects out. Other then that, just pick it up every couple of days to spin the wheels & make turbo noises LOL

The perfect answer is the anti-corrosion paper meant for wrapping and storing hardware susceptible to corrosion (water pumps and similar items often come wrapped in it). But for less than a year, just put it in your closet. Out in the shop, it's liable to heat and cool, gather moisture in the process, and start rusting its steel parts.

A light coating of WD-40 will do the trick. You could check it every couple of days to make sure it's still got a good layer on it. Or as a precautionary measure soak a rag in WD-40 and stuff one into all ends of the turbo and tape it all off that way any moist air will be absorbed by the WD soaked rag. When I rebuilt my trans I cleaned all the parts with brake clean and then I coated all the parts I was going to reuse with WD-40 and the other ones I just tossed aside. Since the brake clean dries everything up so well those non-reused parts are now starting to have rust pits in them while all the others look perfect.

The lube that's in the turbo when it's built will keep it in good shape. Just keep it in the house and you'll be fine. I have a brand new turbo (never installed but 5 years old) and its been sitting on my living room shelf for the whole 5 years and still looks just like it did the day it was put together

And I would have thought a vacuum controlled enviroment would have been the best bet.

I do that with my gt42 every once in a while. It is fun for a minute and then I get depressed because my car is a long way from being completed :(
