Stock Radio E-01 Error

I have the stock radio currently and just yesterday it started flashing E 01 when I load a CD. Does anyone know what this error code means?

If it indicates a dead radio, does anyone have any suggestions for a reasonably priced head unit that will handle an iPod input at the back? Meaning I want to run a USB wire out the back and into the glove box where I'll put my old iPod Touch.

And lastly, what's the deal with the factory amp when installing a new head unit? I'm guessing there is a ton of wiring I'll need to do to remove / bypass the amp. I was hoping I could buy a head unit and a fancy adapter, plug it in and go, but I'm assuming that isn't the case.

When this happened to mine, I just reset it and that fixed the problem. Make sure you have the unlock code before doing this.

When going to an aftermarket head unit, the factory amp is simply not used, nor will your front tweeters work anymore. Im not to sure about the wiring though. I have read a good number of threads on the subject though. Try a search.

I searched around and found something about a MITAH adapter. But to be honest, I have no clue what you do with the adapter. Crutchfield gives you free "installation gear" with the purchase of a head unit. It says they include the double to single DIN conversion hardware and this wiring harness.

What do you do with that harness? Does that allow you to plug directly into the existing harness that's currently plugged into the stock radio? For example, remove stock radio, plug supplied harness into vehicle harness and wire up the other end of the adapter to the wires coming out of the stock radio?

I know about as much about stereos as I do about knitting, which is almost nothing.

Someone has to have done this.
