I just bought a 96 Talon tsi awd with a 16G turbo 1st gen mani, 550cc injectors, 190 pump, couple other things i dont know anything about and the car is running lean. can you run 22 lb's of boost on stock fuel pressure regulator? My friend said that was most likely the cause

Yea your gonna need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and a gauge to see what your pressure is at. The stock regulator isn't designed to handle all the extra flow, nor is it adjustable to make it correct.

on a stock engine i would not recommend going over 20, and 550 but if your your running 20 psi i would say 650s, but if your driving at 22 psi and your car is bucking or feels funny, then your getting fuel cut, what are you using for fuel management to adjust your fuel and if your using fuel management you should also be using a logger to assist in the tuning.

Completely wrong. The fuel pressure regulator doesn't have to "handle all the extra flow", all the "extra flow" is going through the injectors, the fuel pressure regulator is at the END of the rail where fuel returns back to the tank.

OP - Your fpr isn't your problem. Why do you think the car's running lean?

Why??? Lots of guys have ran 30psi on stock engines, I ran 27 on my last one, bone stock. It's not about the pressure, it's about the tune.

with the one 190ldh fuel pump your stock fpr should be fine. but with out any tuning your car will run live crap with just the 55's

On a 1g i use the non turbo 47 psi regulators. The turbo regulators (37 psi) can get over run, and not allow the pressure to drop below about 45psi. Simple answer, run a 47 psi regulator and tune for your now larger injectors.

My post was more about the whole situation of running larger injectors and fuel pump without an AFPR then just running lean.

The only reason 98% of dsmers get an adjustable fpr is so they can run a 255 or bigger pump. You don't need an afpr with a 190 pump. And while Kenamond's post is spot on but not really relevant.

I bought the car like this. Wasn't expecting to have to dump this much money into the car either.
