personally I use Brad Penn, and OEM filters currently. I have used WIX and KN filters, they did help when my car was stock with the lifter tick.

this is also a good link to see how Fram compares to a Wix, the quality between filters. On my XJ (jeep cherokee sport) I use only wix/napa gold. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/maintenance-repairs/433196-oil-filter-cut-away-fram-wix.html
