I recently just finished wiring my motor and went to go start it today. All the gauges turn on, dash, accessories, tail lights/turn signals turn on. Fuel pump starts. But when I fully turn the key the starter just clicks. Does not turn over at all. The car does not lose any power when I try to turn it on. The starter is grounded on the trans. It is also new withabout 4 months of use to I doubt that its bad already. Also my headlights go up, but dont turn on. I am assuming the bulbs are burnt out but just listing this incase it pertains to the problem.

Also my an fuel fittings are leaking fuel. Is there really a way I can disconnect them without getting gas everywhere so I can wrap them with gas sealing tape?

Did you get that new/used battery cable harness for a manual trans?
The negative cable eyelet bolted to the starter mounting bolt?

Have a voltmeter? Do some voltage drop testing on the starter circuit.

Of course make sure the engine turns over normally by hand still.

As for the fuel lines, your outa luck. Put rags under them to capture the fuel best as possible to disassemble.
It will not be as bad if the pump hasn't ran recently.

Yes I switched over to a manual starter harness, I have both the groundon the eyelet and the ground that goes back to battery. I have not tried turning it by hand, ill try that today. Also I dont have any sort of electric tools, ill.probobly need to pick one up.

The motor rotates, it was a little stuck at first but it moves now, but the starter still won't move it

My motor is about 35-40 ft lbs to rotate with a torque wrench

Ok I switched to a starter that came from a 5 speed, still only clicks. Both starters are confirmed to be working, fresh battery, I believe I have everything grounded (the one to the trans and the other to the fire wall) checked fuses there all good. What else could it be? Anyone?

How would I check that? Sorry im not good when it comes to electronics.

On the 2g, which i imagine is similar to your 1g, it's on the driver's side of the steering column. Remove the column covers and it's a switch that's rotated to connect various circuits when the ignition cylinder is turned. On a 2g they can get gunked up and lose connectivity and it leads to the starter clicking (i.e. solenoid engaging) but not actually spinning the engine. I am guessing you might have the same issue but it's a guess at best as I don't have a 1g nor any experience on them. Doesn't hurt to take a look.

I've never tried cleaning one out as I just opted to get a new one as I don't like dealing with attempted repairs of failed parts. You might be able to open it up and clean it out (the 2g one certainly is easy to disassemble and re-assemble).

Thanks ill look at the right now

Gas sealing tape?

Its like pipe tread sealing tape but gas proof

I took it all off. I dont see a switch of any type just wires coming out of my ignition
