I have a 91 tsi talon and the igntition system is stock. And when i try to turn the key all the gauges and lights work but all you here is a pop. I've Replaced the starter and the starter relay ( couldn't find the exact relay but found one with the exact stud pattern and metal patter as the original so used it) and still did the same thing. So i checked the power going to the starter solenoid and nothing was registering even when i had a friend tryin to turn the motor over. The only pop i hear in the car is coming from the passenger side under the dash next to the fire wall. Outside i can here the starter trying to turn but doesn't have enough power going into it.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or know what is going on. so would be greatly apperciative!

I even did that! had my friends hooked up to it to charge and give a jump start and same thing... just a click/pop! and i've also replaced the fuseable link to the solenoid.

Try to get the exact relay you may have gotten one the is not strong enough to handle the power , the starting system take alot of juice to run it and get things going, you can also jump the solenoid and you can jump the starter, if you have not done this before DON'T:nono: try this. but it can be done, if you do decide to do this or have someone who has done this and the starter still does not work it is a faulty starter or solenoid, also do not ask me how to jump starter or solenoid , if you have not done this before have some one with the exp do this i don't want you to burn yourself and catch your car on fire.

Check to make sure that your battery terminals are all tite . once i put in a starter and all the dash lights worked but wouldn't start, just clicked and popped. till i tightened the ground up and presto it started. and fyi the service manual tells that you shouldn't jump start or charge the battery with it hooked to the car . mitsu factory service manual states that it can cause damage to the ecu
