I just put a freshly rebuilt motor in and drove it for 44ish miles parked it and the starter stop working.Threw a new one in and still only makes a thud sound.I can push the car off and she starts and runs like a champ. Here is the fun part.clutch relay is good, starter is good,i hooked power to it to see while it was on the car it turned over like its should, all fuses in the boxes are good, the two in the center console are good one is fuel pump relay i believe.ignition switch is good.
this may have nothing to do with it but i was doing a half throttle pull before she started all this and felt like i had a boost leak under higher boost"it jerked" so i let off and went to start tracking boost leaks, tighten a few clamps went to start her and the fuel pump did not make that wind up sound turned it over and only thuds from the fuel pump starter and relays through the car.but i can push her off and she runs like a champ.
So anyway what could make my starter not work that i have not listed.
sorry for the story book just wanted to list everything i could think of.
I am open to all ideas because i am all out of my own.

Yeah i forgot to put this as well but its a new battery, and i tried grounding the starter elsewhere still nothing.I'm not real sure how much power the battery is throwing to the starter though i will look at that tomorrow. :aha:

First thing is make sure your battery terminals are clean and tight. Insure all your engine and chassis grounds are clean and tight. Make sure the power lead going to the starter is clean and tight. Make sure the signal wire to the starter from the relay is clean and tight. Also check and make sure you didn't pinch a wire over there by the starter.

It really sounds like you have a poor connection somewhere. To me it sounds like a loose battery terminal. Hope that helps.
